Michigan State and Purdue shared the regular-season title with Michigan just a shade behind the top two, so not surprisingly those three teams are the favorites.
But the middle pack of teams is also loaded with talent for college basketball betting fans to consider, and there are a number from that group capable of making a run at the crown.

The No. 2-seed Boilermakers have something No. 1 seed Michigan State does not – a full compliment of players. The Spartans lost forward Josh Langford to a foot injury for the last 18 games of the regular season.
They also played without forward Nick Ward for 11 games, which may or may not be back by March Madness time.
Purdue head coach Matt Painter has a full complement of players at his disposal, led by guard Carsen Edwards. The junior runs arguably the conference’s best offense and helped lead the team to a 15-4 conference record and a piece of the title.
Purdue will need center Matt Harms to rebound big and for its defense to lock down in close games, something that was not there at times during a stretch in the middle of the season.
Even with future Hall of Famers Tom Izzo at MSU and John Bielein at Michigan in the conference, don’t underestimate the coaching contributions from Painter.
Purdue will play the winner of Minnesota and Penn State. It beat Penn State twice but split with the Golden Gophers, losing in the next-to-last game of the regular season. That defeat kept them from winning the conference championship outright.
The No. 5 seed Terrapins ended the regular season 13-7 in the conference but 22-9 overall. Coach Mark Turgeon saw his team round into shape just after the first of the year and become a formidable foe that racked up wins and charged up the standings.
Anthony Cowan Jr. had 21 points in the season finale win over Minnesota while Bruno Fernando and Jalen Smith both finished with double-doubles.
If the trio’s play can carryover to the tournament, Maryland can pull an upset and topple the conference giants to win the crown.
There was a point in the regular season when nobody wanted to play Illinois. That may sound weird to say about a team who went 7-13 in the Big Ten and 11-20 overall, but the Fighting Illini came together in a big way early in February.
They put together a four-game winning streak that included tough victories over Nebraska, Michigan State and Rutgers and for good measure an upset win on the road against Ohio State.
Illinois averaged 73 points a game, fourth in the conference behind Michigan State, Purdue and Iowa. Coach Brad Underwood’s up-tempo game style flourished with guards Ayo Dosunmo and Trent Frazier running the show.
If Illinois can come out of the gate hot as the No. 11 seed there is enough talent to put together a hot streak and make a run.
