French Open 2019 Betting Odds, Tips & Top Bets to Consider

Quick Tips:
- Novak Djokovic outright +250 with 888
- Matteo Berrettini to win third quarter +2500 with DraftKings
- Deigo Schwartzman to win third quarter +1200 with Paddy Power
Rafael Nadal and Novak Djokovic are both seeking more history at Roland Garros over the next two weeks with the Spaniard a shade of odds-against to claim his 12th French Open title.
The King of Clay has not had his best season on the dirt, falling in the semi-finals when seeking his 12th triumphs at both Barcelona and Monte-Carlo. It was another semi-final exit in Madrid as he fell to Stefanos Tsitsipas who went down to Djokovic in the final.

Nadal bounced back to form in the Eternal City, clinching his ninth Italian Open with a three-set win over the world number one. It was a strange affair with the Spaniard winning 6-0, 4-6, 6-1 against an opponent who looked tired from two long matches in the previous two days.
After winning his third consecutive Grand Slam tournament at the Australian Open, Djokovic struggled on hard courts before returning to his best to win in Madrid. He will be desperate to hold all four Slams again as he did when securing his sole French Open title to date in 2016, and is definitely worth considering when plotting your tennis betting strategy.
From what we have seen so far, it looks very much like a two-horse race and the best bookmakers view it that way too with Djokovic the +250 second favorite with 888. Dominic Thiem, winner in Miami and Barcelona this season, is the best of the rest at +600 at 888, and it's +2000 or more on down.
Any Outsiders to Follow?
While shocks do occur in sport, it is hard to look beyond the top two in the betting battling it out on Court Philippe Chatrier on June 9th. Nadal looks to have a fairly easy route to the final and Djokovic should be fresh after his recent exertions.
Thiem suffered a surprising loss to Fernando Verdasco in Rome in what has been an otherwise fine season. Putting me off him is his draw in the same half as Djokovic who beat him in two tiebreaks in Madrid. Alexander Zverev was another early casualty in Rome, going out to one of this season's finds in Matteo Berrettini.
The Italian took his second career title at the ATP 250 in Budapest in April before reaching the final in Munich. He then beat Lucas Pouille and Zverev in Rome before falling to Diego Schwartzman. The pair could meet again in the third round at Roland Garros and they are drawn in the third quarter which looks most ripe for an upset with Stefanos Tsitsipas and Roger Federer heading the market.
Berrettini can take inspiration from fellow Italian Mauro Cecchinato who went all the way to the semis last year. I think we're very much in value loser territory here but, based on his performances this year, he is hugely overpriced at +20000 outright with a number of bookmakers and worth a small each-way bet. He is also worth backing at +2500 with DraftKings to win the third quarter.
The same goes for Schwartzman who is +12500 outright with SugarHouse, and +1200 to win the third quarter with the same firms. The diminutive Argentine was the only player to take a set off Nadal last year in the quarter-finals. If there is going to be a surprise semi-finalist, I think this is the quarter he will come from. Tsitsipas was a second-round casualty last year, going out to eventual runner-up Thiem.

Pick A Winner
Personally, I will be a surprised if Nadal and Djokovic don't meet in the final. They are the two outstanding players in tennis and have been the best two on clay this season.
At the prices, I have to go for Djokovic who can be forgiven his Rome final defeat. Rain interruptions throughout the week meant he ended up playing three-setters on consecutive days against Juan Martin del Potro (over three hours) and Diego Schwartzman (over two and a half hours) after beating Denis Shapovalov and Philipp Kohlschreiber on the same day.
Nadal had a similar workload in terms of matches but won all of them in straight sets. In his first three matches in Rome, he dropped just six games. There was a big freshness difference in the final and Djokovic did well to take a set having been 'bagelled' in the opener. He can reverse the form in Paris and complete that second 'Nole Slam'.
