After deciding to declare for the NFL Draft, despite being a first-round pick by the Oakland Athletics, Oklahoma quarterback Kyler Murray could be the first player in history to be drafted in the first round of both the NFL and MLB.
Given how great he was last season for the Sooners, that seems very likely. It’s no longer a matter if Murray will be a first-round pick, it’s about how high could he possibly go?
Where he lands and to which team will be the biggest storyline of this draft season. The 2018 Heisman Trophy winner is small (listed at 5-10), but is one of the most talented quarterbacks to enter the draft in several seasons.

The favorite to land Murray is the Jaguars, who hold the No.7 pick in the 2019 NFL Draft. After selecting Blake Bortles in 2014, it's time for the team to go in a different direction. Jacksonville wants to be a ball-control team that relies on their defense to win games but asks their quarterback not to lose it for them.
In the same vein, Murray makes sense for Jacksonville as he could do what Lamar Jackson did in Year 1 for Baltimore and much, much more. If Jacksonville selected Murray and gave him the reigns to the offense in 2019, it wouldn't be a shock to see them back in playoff contention next season.
Expect Jacksonville to heavily consider using their first-round pick on the Sooners quarterback, and bet on it at +300 with SugarHouse.
The team with the second-highest odds to select Murray is yet another Florida-based team in the Dolphins. Like Jacksonville and Bortles, the Ryan Tannehill experiment has run its course in Miami.
It would be somewhat shocking if the team didn't address their quarterback need in the first round, but the Dolphins may need to make a trade to do so. Miami owns the No.13 overall pick and would likely need to get ahead of both the Giants and Jaguars to select a player like Murray.
I fully expect Murray to be one of the few names the Dolphins target this offseason via a trade up if they decide to take a quarterback in the first round. Bet on Miami at +400 with 888Sport.
Picking at No.6 and being the first team with a significant need at quarterback, I fully expected the Giants’ odds to land Murray to be a lot higher than +1000. Nevertheless, this is outstanding value if you believe Murray ends up with the Giants.
When the Giants selected Saquon Barkley last season, the hope was that he would be able to elevate the play of Eli Manning. That didn't happen, and the Giants finished the season at 5-11 and in last place in the NFC East. Once again, many are wondering if this is the year the Giants draft Manning's replacement.
If the answer is yes, no quarterback would be better suited for the Giants than Murray, who would be fantastic with Barkley and Odell Beckham Jr. At +1000 with 888Sport, this is one of my favorite landing spots for Murray.
Finally, one of my favorite “long shot” bets for Murray’s team in 2019 is none other than the New England Patriots. While it seems foolish to draft a quarterback while Tom Brady is still leading the team to Super Bowls, New England has to know that Brady’s play could fall off at any moment.
There were rumblings last year the New England wanted to trade up for a quarterback, but that ultimately didn't happen as four quarterbacks were picked inside the top 10.
If Murray falls into the teens, don’t be surprised if the Patriots make a move as they own four picks inside of the top-75 selections. He would be a fantastic replacement to the greatest quarterback of all time. At +2000 with SugarHouse, it might be worth taking a shot.

Kyler Murray’s over/under on where he will be drafted is 6.5. That number falls between the New York Giants, who pick at No. 6 and the Jacksonville Jaguars at No.7, both teams that are in need of a franchise quarterback.
But how likely is it that Murray will be selected inside the top six? Let’s take a look some data over the last decade.
In the last 10 drafts, there have been a total of 14 quarterbacks selected inside the top six picks (1.4 per draft). Essentially, Murray would need to be the top quarterback selected in order to hit the under.
While that is indeed possible, the 2019 draft is a unique one because the top of the draft is littered with teams who already have their franchise quarterback in place.
While you can certainly make a case that Murray deserves to be selected inside the top-six picks, it doesn't seem very likely that he will end up there, barring a massive trade up. Take the over 6.5 at -125 with 888Sport, and hope that nobody trades out of the top five or six picks.
