Under the Rush Street Interactive umbrella, SugarHouse Pennsylvania has had quite the success since launching their online sportsbook in late May 2019.
With a physical, brick-and-mortar facility already in Philadelphia, the sportsbook increased their handle from $7.9 million in May to well over $23.3 million in June, with $18.17 million of that coming from online alone, according to the Pennsylvania Gaming Control Board.
SugarHouse was also first in the race to be the first Pennsylvania sportsbook to offer online access.
With a wide array of sports options and a generous welcome offer, let’s look further into SugarHouse, discussing our experience with the platform.
|A plethora of bet types||No iOS app|
|Numerous deposit options||Interface could be improved a bit, but is not bad|
|SugarHouse also offers an online casino|
As of right now, SugarHouse PA only has Android functionality. However, it just makes logical sense to assume that iOS will be coming in the near future as this is a huge customer base to tap into. For the interface, it’s not bad at all, it’s just relatively simply with a basic color scheme.
The welcome offer at SugarHouse is super straightforward and easy to understand.
By using the promo code “250MATCH” upon signing up and depositing, players will get a 100 percent match up to $250 when they deposit.
The only caveat worth noting is that, when wagering, keep in mind that all cash is used before bonus funds and that in order to have access to withdrawing these bonus funds, you must successfully complete a 1x playthrough of the money. Meaning, if you deposited $100 and got a bonus $100, in order to successfully withdraw the bonus $100, you must bet a total $100 in order to access it.
Upon clicking on the sign up button in the top right-hand corner of the homepage, you’re brought to your first screen which asks for your email address, a password you’d like to use, and a promo code.
However, there is an option for a “fast registration” where if you’re a Rush Rewards member, have an account on SugarHouse’s Casino4Fun platform or have an account with their New Jersey affiliate, you can bypass this entire process.
For new players, you’d continue on to the next page, where more information is requested, such as: name, zip code, street address, date of birth and gender.
Lastly, you will be asked to create a screen name, give your mobile phone number, make some security questions and provide the last four digits of your social security number.
This may be problematic for some users in terms of giving a portion of their social security number, but it is necessary as any sports betting winnings are taxable.
Lastly, just agree to their terms of service and you’re all set and ready to go—this process quite literally took us at most three minutes.
We used the check by mail method in case there were customers hesitant to put their online banking information in their system. For us, the check came much faster than anticipated. With that, it’s fair to assume that if you do use the ACH/eCheck method, the 2-5 business day quote is probably an overestimate.

As mentioned previously, while the desktop and mobile interface may not be the most “beautiful”, they make up for that in a fluid experience on their platforms.
Everything is laid out well. On the left-hand side of the screen, players can sort through the different sports and their unique betting offers.
Above this, there are buttons for help sections, the rewards section and the casino counterpart. Also, in the center of the screen, there are bets for the numerous sports in order of the sports. For example, baseball appears first, followed by football. There is a clickable arrow to assist in condensing the screen.
Moving to the app’s, there is an Android offering that is downloaded directly from the main page where there is a clickable download link. The good news is that, even going to mobile, the interface is laid out consistently, which will make traversing the site easier for users who decide to switch between desktop and mobile.
Markets to bet on include:
In looking at their betting lines compared to top-flight competitors in FanDuel/DraftKings, SugarHouse competes with almost the exact same lines. Remember, sportsbooks will adapt their odds based on betting actions on their own sites.
SugarHouse PA does offer a jackpot parlay, in which the site themselves will pick between three and eight contests for you to bet on, ranging from $0.10 to different maximum amounts, depending on the size of the parlay.
The numerous ways to bet at SugarHouse is one of our favorite things about this online sportsbook.
SugarHouse offers a “Buy Out” option as well as live betting. The “Buy Out” option is the same as cash out, where players can exit a bet prematurely if they desire, with different scaling amounts of cash returns. For example, if you bet on an NFL game and are getting beat in the first quarter, you could cash out. You may not get all of your money back, but should get some to help in keeping your bankroll alive.
Live betting in highlighted in yellow on the front page. Here, SugarHouse lists every event that is currently going on live and have revolving odds based on what is happening in those respective games. Also, there is a star icon players can choose which acts as a “favorite”. This makes the bets you’re interested in go to the top of the screen so you can track them and not forget about them later on.
Speaking of bets, the bet slip at SugarHouse was so simple to use for us. After clicking on your desired bet, a bet slip appears in the bottom left hand corner of the screen. There, you input the amount of money you wish to wager. SugarHouse will tell you the amount you could win, and then you place the bet, assuming you have the money in your account to cover the costs.
Soon, betting on these games will provide points toward a VIP Program, though it is not available yet.
Outside of their welcome offer and their impending VIP Program, there are no additional promotions offered currently on SugarHouse. While this doesn’t help for right now, it would only make sense that SugarHouse add some in the future to compete with the ever-evolving sports betting market in Pennsylvania.
Upon clicking on the help button at the top of the screen, if you look to the right of that screen, you’ll see the customer support options.
Though they are not 24/7, SugarHouse does offer email support and a live chat option from 9:30 a.m. - 2 a.m. eastern time, which is extremely close to 24/7 support.
The options are clickable and will bring you right to the option you choose.
With sports betting on the uprise, the one thing we can confidently say is that sportsbooks, and in particular SugarHouse, take the concept of sports betting addiction seriously.
SugarHouse offers things such as session limits and deposit limits and a self-exclusion function which ranges from 1-5 years. Of course, this is probably used in extreme circumstances where the person is trying to quell their addiction.
We thoroughly enjoy our time on SugarHouse. In a competitive market, SugarHouse has really outdone themselves with trying to compete with the competition via unique betting features and types and it reflects in their handle from June. While there are some minor changes needed (as with anything), these are also things that can/will almost certainly be added in the future. SugarHouse has demonstrated why it is king in Pennsylvania.VISIT SUGARHOUSE SPORTS
