England vs India Test 3: Stuart Broad for Man of the Match

England vs India Test 3: Stuart Broad for Man of the Match

Quick Tips:

  • India to Take a First-Innings Lead - 8/5 at 888sport
  • Stuart Broad to Win Man of the Match - 17/2 at RedZoneSports

India face an uphill battle to save the series as England hold a 2-0 lead going into Saturday’s potentially decisive third Specsavers Test at Trent Bridge.

The tourists’ brittle batting form is offering little encouragement for the nation’s legion of fans with only Virat Kohli averaging above 20 since the start of the South Africa series earlier this summer.

After the first day was washed out at Lord’s, the number one-ranked Test side were humbled by a superb spell by Jimmy Anderson and an unsettled weather forecast is unlikely to prevent a result at a ground which is usually seamer-friendly.

Kohli’s men will have their work cut out to halve the series deficit but Nottingham has been a happy hunting ground in the past.

India Longer in the Odds

The tourists are 10/3 with 888sport to repeat their Zaheer Khan-inspired win of 2007 at the same ground.

More recent results are less encouraging with a 319-run defeat in 2011 followed by a draw in 2014 but there’s little value in backing England to take an unassailable 3-0 lead at 5/9 at Sportnation.

An alternative would be India to take a first-innings lead at 8/5 with 888sport.

When the match will be decided offers more interesting odds with 888sport offering 13/4 on a finish on days 1-3 with 12/1 on the contest concluding in the first session of day 4 on Tuesday.

Weather May Offer Bowlers Movement

With cloud cover and a chance of rain on Sunday, it could offer bowlers movement to take the wickets required quicker or time out of the game. With quick drainage, don’t expect any showers to delay play for long so don’t discount an earlier finish than the first two Tests which both finished on the fourth day.

Expect the skippers to opt to bowl first to make the most of any early movement with all three away skippers opting for an uncontested toss in the three Championship matches at Trent Bridge this season with two of the three celebrating an innings win inside three days.

If you back the bowlers to reign supreme, no centuries in the match is valued at 17/4 at Bethard with Jimmy Anderson (31/4) and Stuart Broad (17/2) well placed at RedZoneSports to win Man of the Match.

After a couple of comical Indian calamities this series, back them at 33/10 to lose more players to a run out than England with Sportnation.

However, it’s still a good surface if you can get through the new ball with Virat Kohli (6/1), Joe Root (29/4), Alastair Cook and Chris Woakes (both at 21/2) well placed to pay dividends to win the award.

Double Century Options

If you reckon a batsman can dig in and go big for either side, a double century is rated at 27/5 with Grosvenor or if you think the bat will dominate overall, look at the draw which is 4.75 at EnergyBet.

Openers Alastair Cook (16/5) and Keaton Jennings (9/2) are good bets to be top run-scorers with Genting Bet although middle-order players like Jonny Bairstow (7/2), Jos Buttler (11/2) and the top-scorer from Lord’s Chris Woakes (12/1) offering better value at the same bookmaker as the ball gets older.

For India, it’s tough to look beyond the skipper Kohli at 21/10 with Shikhar Dhawan (15/4) and Ajinka Rahane (17/4) worth a look at Genting Bet.

When it comes to the ball, England’s most prolific bowler market is between Anderson (2/1) and Broad (13/5) on his home ground although don’t discount Chris Woakes at 3/1 to grab the most wickets at Nottingham.

For the tourists, the seamers are likeliest to come to the fore in the East Midlands with Mohammed Shami (13/2) and Hardik Pandya (12/1) at 888sport, fresh from three wickets a piece in the defeat at Lord’s.

The market for the first wicket is interesting with bowled at 4/1 at 888sport if you fancy a repeat of Jimmy Anderson’s jaffa at the Home of Cricket last week.
