NASCAR 2019 Pennzoil 400 Betting: 6 Best Drivers to Back

Last week NASCAR implemented the first phase of the radically new rules drivers and teams will face this year. The full-blown package with reduced horsepower and aerodynamic modifications to the cars will be in play Sunday at Las Vegas Motor Speedway.

For those who enjoy NASCAR betting, here are six drivers to consider in the Pennzoil 400.

  1. Kevin Harvick (+500)

The Stewart-Haas Racing driver is a favorite for the second week in a row as he was last Sunday in Atlanta. There’s a reason for that confidence, and it’s because Harvick is one of the sport’s best on 1.5-mile tracks like Atlanta and Las Vegas.

He has won two of the last five races in Vegas and did so in dominating fashion each time out. Harvick was strong a week ago leading 44 laps to a top-five finish and that should have a carryover effect at LVMS.

Bet Harvick to win at +500 and +140 to finish 1st-3rd with 888Sport in New Jersey.

  2. Kyle Busch (+550)

The prodigal son returns home, as Las Vegas native Busch returns to his home track. While his overall numbers at the track aren’t eye-popping, Busch has three top-10 finishes in his last four starts at the track, which includes a runner-up performance in 2017.

He was forced to start from the rear of the field last week in Atlanta because of a qualifying problem but quickly made it to the front of the field. Busch was critical of the new rules package at a Vegas test earlier in February but that hasn’t stopped him from excelling with it so far.

Bet Busch to win at +550 and +160 to finish 1st-3rd with SugarHouse in New Jersey.

  3. Brad Keselowski (+700)

He fought through battling flu-like symptoms all weekend, including taking fluids through an IV just before race time, but Keselowski still won at Atlanta.

The Team Penske driver has a more than fair shot at making back-to-back trips to Victory Lane Sunday in Vegas. Keselowski has won three of the last seven races at the track and has not finished outside the top-10 since 2012.

Given how he ran last week and his tremendous Vegas record, its somewhat surprising Keselowski is not the overall favorite to win Sunday. Bet him to win at +700 and +200 to finish 1st through 3rd with 888Sport.

  4. Joey Logano (+700)

One of Keselowski’s Penske teammates is Logano, who is off to a frustrating start to the season. He rallied back from a poor starting spot in Atlanta to lead 22 laps, only to be taken out of competition for the win by a loose wheel late in the race.

Although he has not yet at Las Vegas, he has a solid 8.8 average finish over the last 10 races at the track, which includes a string of six consecutive top-10 performances.

A good qualifying effort for Logano will be a key to being in contention for win number one of the campaign. Bet him to win at +700 and +200 to finish 1st through 3rd with SugarHouse.

  5. Martin Truex Jr. (+700)

The 2017 champion was salty about not being able to get around a slower car in the closing laps last week in Atlanta. Truex Jr. did his best to run down Keselowski for the win but was forced to settle for second.

However the overall run should end any questions about Truex Jr. making a smooth transition to his new team at Joe Gibbs Racing. He won at Las Vegas in an absolutely dominating performance in 2017 and has finished 4th and 3rd in the following two races.

Bet Truex to win at +700 and +200 to finish 1st through 3rd with 888Sport.

  6. Aric Almirola (+2000)

His second year at Stewart-Haas Racing has started off very strong and Almirola is a definite sleeper pick to win on Sunday.

He won the pole in Atlanta and despite a pit road speeding penalty that derailed a shot to win was able to bounce back and lead 36 laps to finish eighth.

Almirola was at the front of the field last year in Vegas on his way to a sixth-place finish and appears poised to make a leap up further in the standings this week. Bet on him to win at +2000 with SugarHouse.

2019 Pennzoil 400 Betting Tip

Las Vegas will be the first “true” test of the much-anticipated new rules. However based on last week’s Atlanta race and a test held at the track a few weeks ago, drivers and teams that have excelled on 1.5-mile tracks like LVMS will still be strong.

Until some trends begin to develop with the new package over the next few weeks, don’t waver from using past performance as a guide to predict possible future success.
