NASCAR Phoenix 2019 Betting: 6 Drivers to Bet in Spring Race

NASCAR Phoenix 2019 Betting: 6 Drivers to Bet in Spring Race

NASCAR’s annual West Coast swing continues Sunday with the first of two visits this year to ISM Raceway outside Phoenix, Arizona.

After using the full version of the new Cup Series rules package last week in Las Vegas, race No. 4 of 2019 will be a hybrid that beings back higher horsepower. It’s closer to what drivers had at their disposal at last November’s Phoenix race.

For those who enjoy NASCAR betting, here are six drivers to consider backing in Sunday’s Ticket Guardian 500.

  1. Kevin Harvick (+350)

Phoenix has been one of if not the best tracks on the circuit for Harvick throughout his entire racing career including before he graduated to the Cup Series.

Since rising to NASCAR’s top division, Harvick has won nine times at the one-mile track, and over the last 10 races visited Victory Lane on five occasions. His average finish during that span is a ridiculous 2.7 and his “worst” performance came with a sixth-place run in 2017.

Last year Harvick was first and fifth in the two Phoenix races. Anything can happen, but Harvick is as close to a lock for at least a top-five finish as any drivers will be this season Bet Harvick to win at +350 and -118 to finish 1st-3rd with 888Sport in New Jersey.

  2. Kyle Busch (+400)

He’s off to a red-hot start even though Busch is still looking for win No. 1 of 2019. Last week he shot himself in the foot with a pit road speeding violation but still was able to come back to finish third in Las Vegas.

Busch was first and second in Phoenix last season, and like Harvick, has always performed well at the track no matter what the series. He has only finished outside the top-10 once there dating back to 2014. Bet Busch to win at +400 and +100 to finish 1st-3rd with SugarHouse in New Jersey.

  3. Brad Keselowski (+650)

The Atlanta race winner two weeks ago, Keselowski followed that up with a runner-up run in Vegas.

While he doesn’t have a Cup Series win in Phoenix, he has been victorious at the track in other divisions. Keselowski finished second to Kyle Busch there last November. Bet him to win at +650 and +150 to finish 1st through 3rd with 888Sport.

  4. Joey Logano (+900)

Keselowski’s Team Penske teammate won at Las Vegas last week leading a 1-2 finish for the team to start the West Coast swing.

Logano won at Phoenix in 2016, but his last few outings have not been great with a variety of mechanical problems and accidents taking him from contention.

However, his team appears to be hitting on all cylinders right now and Logano is poised for a desert rebound. Bet him to win at +900 and +225 to finish 1st through 3rd with SugarHouse.

  5. Martin Truex Jr. (+900)

There’s some frustration growing with the 2017 Cup Series champion and it’s not because he’s not running well. Truex Jr. has been in contention to win in the first three races but has not yet been able to get to Victory Lane.

He has two top-five finishes in his last three Phoenix starts. Bet Truex to win at +900 and +275 to finish 1st through 3rd with 888Sport.

  6. Chase Elliott (+1100)

In six career Phoenix Cup starts Elliott has registered four top-10 finishes with two of those inside the first five.

Late-race trouble erased any chance to win at the track last fall when Elliott again was running at the front of the field. He’s started the year a bit on the slow side but did knock down a top-10 at Las Vegas. Bet him to win at +1100 and +275 to finish 1st through 3rd with SugarHouse.

2019 Ticket Guardian 500 Betting Tip

Last November’s Phoenix race was the first on the track’s reconfigured racing surface, which saw the start-finish line moved from what was frontstretch to the dog-led turn of the old backstretch.

The result was a series of wild restarts and runs to the checkered flag as drivers had much more room to fan out three and sometimes four-wide. Aggressiveness will pay off should Sunday’s race come down to a late-race restart.

Keep an eye on the weekend’s practice and qualifying sessions. In 45 previous races held at Phoenix, 24 winners have started the race from inside the top-10. A good qualifying effort will be a key to a potential good finish.
