NFL Week 16 Betting Tips & Picks: Over/Under Plays to Back

NFL Week 16 Betting Tips & Picks: Over/Under Plays to Back

We’re coming off an even-Steven result with our totals as a late field goal in the Seattle-San Francisco game and another in overtime pushed us to a 2-2 week. Let’s see if we can get above that mark this week:

Cincinnati Bengals at Cleveland Browns

  • Total: 45.5 at SugarHouse Online Casino & Racebook

The curious part of the Cincinnati Bengals in recent weeks, relative to over-under totals, is that they haven’t become a disaster on offense. Even with Jeff Driskel replacing Andy Dalton under center and A.J. Green sidelines, the Bengals have not disintegrated on offense.

They scored 30 points this past weekend against the Raiders, 21 the week before against the Chargers. They have played three full games and one partial game since Dalton’s injury on Nov. 25 against the Cleveland Browns. In only one of those games did the total go under 46 points. If this game hits 46, it will go over the number.

Cleveland has a confident team right now with Baker Mayfield making the right decisions on offense. They should be able to exploit the Bengals’ defense, something they’ve already done once this season in their 35-20 win at Cincy. As long as the Bengals can score at least 20 points, this game should comfortably go over the number.

Los Angeles Rams at Arizona Cardinals

  • Total: 47.5 at SugarHouse Online Casino & Racebook

This might be the last home game Arizona receiver and surefire future Hall of Famer Larry Fitzgerald plays in his career. This will be an emotional moment for the Cardinals, who will try to play their best and give Fitz a good sendoff.

Arizona’s offense is poor, but with the Rams having given up 30 to the Nick Foles-led Philadelphia Eagles this past weekend at home, Los Angeles is not in a position where it is likely to dominate an opposing offense. Arizona might reasonably scrap together at least 17 points in this game. If that happens, the Rams would need only 31 to go over the number.

The Rams’ offense has certainly offered cause for concern in recent weeks. The NFL seems to be making adjustments to Sean McVay’s system and that is a major problem for the Rams in the upcoming NFC playoffs.

However, Arizona is not a team that’s capable of slowing them down. The Cardinals just gave up 40 points to the struggling Atlanta Falcons. They are the defense that opponents get right against and that should be the case here for the Rams. Go Over.

Pick: Over at SugarHouse Online Casino & Racebook

Kansas City Chiefs at Seattle Seahawks

  • Total: 53.5 at SugarHouse Online Casino & Racebook

The Kansas City Chiefs, it is clear, aren’t the same team on offense without Kareem Hunt, whose assault of a woman, recorded on camera, has derailed his 2018 season. The Chiefs lack that elite running back who can also catch passes out of the backfield and lend endless degrees of diversity to an offense.

With Hunt, the Chiefs would probably still be scoring 35, 38 or 41 points against opponents, but now, their ceiling is about 27 or 28 points. And don’t forget that they are also without Sammy Watkins, who roughly averaged 65 yards receiving per game. Against a defense as good as Seattle’s – especially on the road – the Chiefs might merely score in the mid-20s.

Seattle’s offense, meanwhile, is going through its worst stretch of the season since September. The offensive line is banged up with D.J. Fluker leaving the game against San Francisco this past Sunday.

Ethan Pocic filled in and picked up multiple holding penalties, including one in overtime which wiped out a 32-yard Russell Wilson pass play and contributed to the Seahawks’ loss against the 49ers. Neither offense inspires much confidence right now.

Also factor that Seattle wants to run the ball a lot, milk the clock and keep the ball away from the explosive Chiefs offense and we figure to see less points than expected.

Pick: Under at SugarHouse Online Casino & Racebook

Denver Broncos at Oakland Raiders

  • Total: 44.5 at SugarHouse Online Casino & Racebook

The Broncos’ offense is lost at sea. Case Keenum has been a problem all season, the offensive line has been subpar and the team lost Emmanuel Sanders to injury. And now Denver has been knocked to the canvas in the AFC playoff race.

They are limited. They will likely try to run the ball as much as possible and play ball control after watching the Bengals have success with that last week.

For Oakland, their offense stumbled last week in Cincinnati and scored just 16 points. Denver’s team might be mediocre, but the Broncos’ defense is still one of the better units in the league.

11 of Denver’s 13 games have gone under, including eight of nine where the total is between 42.5 and 49 points. Bet the under.
