TwinSpires, originally known for its horse racing product, has broadened its online footprint to now include online sportsbooks and casinos under its brand. Owned by Churchill Downs Inc., the company that owns the race track by the same name and brings you the Kentucky Derby, TwinSpires has expanded its marketplace by offering these new products with the rebranding of BetAmerica to TwinSpires throughout the country. We found while conducting this TwinSpires review that its sportsbook offers competitive odds, plenty of betting markets, a great array of promotions and a generous sign-up bonus.
|Trustworthy brand||No customer loyalty program|
|Good sign-up promotion||Desktop and mobile app default to casino|
|Competitive odds listings||Offers contests and tournaments for horse racing and casino but not sportsbook, yet|
|American-based company||NFL Hall of Fame quarterback Brett Favre stars in advertising|

The TwinSpires sports betting platform is available on desktop a mobile app. Both versions default to the casino page, even if you're in a state where online casino gaming isn't legal. To access the sportsbook, you'll have to select it from the visible tab on desktop and from the menu button (TwinSpires logo) on mobile app.
Once you've landed on the sportsbook page you can create an account (how-to covered in this review), login or browse the sportsbook platform even without being logged in. What you'll find on TwinSpires is 14 leagues from which to choose, a "popular" listing of leagues, live games and ones starting soon - all these options are listed down the left column on desktop with tabs for each across the bottom of the screen on mobile app. Both platforms centralize major U.S. sports leagues in the middle of the screen for easy access and toggling among leagues to view odds.
As part of this TwinSpires review, we signed up for an account and found it can be completed in three easy steps:
Step 1: First and last name, phone number and email address. Also, enter promo code FREE1000 during this step to get your welcome bonus!
Step 2: Physical address
Step 3: Create a username and password, enter your date of birth and last four digits of Social Security number for identity verification, and create security questions/answers
If you have established a TwinSpires casino account, you can log into the sportsbook with the same details, and it will transfer over to the sportsbook. DO NOT create a new sportsbook account with information you used to establish a casino account as doing so will cause both accounts to be locked, and a headache to unlock. Again, make sure to collect your sign-up bonus!
TwinSpires has popular deposit methods available to fund your account. While they may vary state-by-state, these are typically found:
To withdraw your winnings from TwinSpires, you can choose from the following options, with maximum withdrawal limit and timeframe to receive your money after request is processed:
Minimum withdrawals for online banking, Play+ and PayPal are 1 cent.
TwinSpires welcomes new customers with a risk-free bet on their first wager, up to $1,000, as a sign-up bonus. Enter TwinSpires offer code FREE1000 during Step 1 of the account creation process.
In addition to this new-customer promotion, the TwinSpires betting site has a great list of other promotions across many sports. Customers can check the promotions page to browse what the sportsbook offers for new and existing customers. Opt-in is required to participate in promotions, such as MLB 5th Inning Run Insurance, NBA Sharp Shooter Special, Parlay Profit Boost, NHL Brick Wall Bonus, Super Odds and more. Check out our TwinSpires promo page for more!
The TwinSpires sportsbook app is available for iOS and Android. Visit the respective app store and search "TwinSpires," which will produce the all-in-one app entitled "TwinSpires Casino & Sports."
The app defaults to TwinSpires' casino option, so you'll have to switch to sportsbook from the menu icon that is the TwinSpires logo, which quickly loads but sometimes may lag. Once on the sportsbook, a list will display the categories customers can select from while the main screen displays that day's game options with tabs to navigate all around the leagues TwinSpires offers.
Aside from a slightly different configuration compared to the desktop version, the mobile app layout reflects what you'll find on the desktop.
TwinSpires operates as an all-in-one gaming site for sportsbook, casino and horse racing, however, not all these options are available in every state in which TwinSpires is established. Here's the breakdown:
Sports betting: Indiana, Michigan, Pennsylvania and Tennessee. Coming soon to Colorado and New Jersey
Online casino: Michigan and Pennsylvania. Coming soon to New Jersey
Horse racing: Alabama, Arkansas, California, Connecticut, Delaware, Florida, Illinois, Iowa, Kansas, Kentucky, Louisiana, Maryland, Massachusetts, Montana, New Hampshire, New York, North Dakota, Ohio, Oklahoma, Oregon, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island, South Dakota, Tennessee, Vermont, Virginia, Washington, West Virginia, Wisconsin and Wyoming.
New Jersey is transitioning to TwinSpires, and once the process is complete, gamblers in the state will have access to an online sportsbook as well as casino play and betting the horses.
TwinSpires officially launched its sportsbook here on April 20, 2021, as the previously established BetAmerica sportsbook that went live in the state in December 2019 became TwinSpires. Those using TwinSpires in the state can partake online in the sportsbook, casino and horse racing. BetAmerica has a retail sportsbook at Presque Isle Downs & Casino that likely will become TwinSpires.
TwinSpires launched its online sportsbook on Jan. 22, 2021. Michiganders and those visiting the Great Lakes State also have access to casino and horse racing through the all-in-one TwinSpires website and mobile app. There is a retail sportsbook at the Island Resort & Casino that opened in September 2020 under the BetAmerica brand name. It has since been renamed to showcase the TwinSpires brand now that Churchill Downs Inc., which owns both platforms, has rebranded BetAmerica sportsbooks to TwinSpires.
TwinSpires joined Tennessee's online gambling scene on Jan. 6, 2021, and offers sports betting and horse racing wagers on its desktop and mobile app.
TwinSpires online sportsbook is transitioning from BetAmerica in Colorado. Bronco Billy's Casino has rebranded its retail sportsbook from BetAmerica to TwinSpires. Since placing online horse racing wagers is legal in Colorado, this option likely will be available to gamblers in Colorado along with the sportsbook.
The online sportsbook officially launched in Indiana on April 20, 2021, when the existing BetAmerica sportsbook was rebranded to TwinSpires. BetAmerica originally went live in the Hoosier State in December 2019 and eventually fell to the bottom of the list for the state's online sportsbooks, taking in the lowest number of wagers among all the online sportsbooks in the state during its last month of operation in March. The BetAmerica retail sportsbook at Rising Star Casino has become TwinSpires. The online platform offers sportsbook and horse racing and comes just in time for the Kentucky Derby.
TwinSpires is merging with BetAmerica, both of which are owned by Churchill Downs Inc. The owner is rebranding all BetAmerica sportsbooks to TwinSpires to operate under the same umbrella brand. TwinSpires likely will be available in more states in the near future as well.
TwinSpires includes popular bets such as moneylines, totals and spreads. First- and second-half lines are offered as well as player props and other team prop bets. Once you select a game you can click "more wagers" to browse all the sports betting options available for that game.
TwinSpires offers a large selection of sports markets. Basketball encompasses NBA, Euroleague, China, Germany, Spain and Turkey. Baseball covers MLB, Japan and South Korea. Hockey is NHL and KHL. Soccer is the most expansive: Premier League, Bundesliga, La Liga and Serie A - all of which can add up to almost 60,000 betting options on a given day. TwinSpires also has a good selection for NFL (even in the offseason), golf, tennis, UFC/MMA, boxing, motorsports, Australian Rules, Rugby League, Rugby Union and cycling.
TwinSpires offers competitive odds compared to other top operators such as DraftKings, BetMGM and FanDuel. For example, in this TwinSpires betting review we compared the listed odds for the first and last MLB games slated on a given day, as well as an NBA game on the same day. TwinSpires online betting odds aligned with other operators on a daily basis.
While casual horse racing fans may think only of the Kentucky Derby, there's racing across the county almost every day and TwinSpires has you covered. Tracks that TwinSpires offers include:
TwinSpires also brings bettors international racing from Australia, Ireland, Japan, New Zealand and the United Kingdom. In addition to thoroughbred racing, TwinSpires also offers harness and greyhound racing. The TwinSpires racing page has tons to offer bettors beyond betting races. The "News & Picks" and "Handicapping" tabs are your one-stop-shops for gaining an edge in your horse racing knowledge and betting. TwinSpires bet types encompass almost anything you can think of, from straight bets to exotics, daily doubles and pick 3, 4, 5 and 6.
When you create an account with TwinSpires Racebook, you'll be rewarded with a lucrative sign-up bonus. Check out our TwinSpires promo page for more information and to browse all the ongoing promos.
This is one of three "unique wagering experiences" offered on the racebook site. This option includes interactive race information such as trainer, jockey, sire, dam and the racehorse for every horse in every race. It allows you to "star" your favorite tracks and easily navigate among your favorites. The new platform also eliminated an additional step for confirming your wager when you're ready to submit a bet. Customers also can review and delete active bets and watch video of any race with TwinSpires live racing, all from a centralized page. Once you're on the site, select TwinSpires Express login and partake in this platform option.
TwinSpires mobile app for horse racing is a simple and organized layout. Customers can select from thoroughbred, harness or greyhound racing or select "all" to see the complete listing across all forms of races. Below these four options is a "favorites" section where tracks you've "starred" are centralized. Below that is a "featured" section showcasing featured races from differing tracks. The rest of the main page is a scrollable list entitled "all races." Along the bottom of the app are tabs for races, my bets, deposit, offers and account.
We found during our TwinSpires review that most contests and tournaments were for horse racing. Two such contests are the weekly cash tournaments (such as the "Saturday 10K Guarantee") and weekly satellites. The Saturday 10K Guarantee requires a $100 buy-in and pays out to the top 12 finishers, with $5,000 going to the winner. Customers select a horse to win-place in each designated race of the contest and earn the real-life payoff for a $2 win-place bet. Players don't wager real money from their bankroll (hence the buy-in). The weekly satellites occur on Wednesdays, Thursdays and Fridays, with a smaller buy-in. A group of top finishers each day advance to the Saturday 10K Guarantee but don't have to pony up the $100 buy-in.
Keep an eye out for sports contests and tournaments in the near future. In lieu of sports contests like what's offered for horse racing, TwinSpires currently has sports promotions worthy of playing, as we've discussed.
TwinSpires has some unique and exclusive features associated with its sportsbook, such as:
To stream a game on TwinSpires you can select a game from any market and watch a gamecast as well as live bet while it’s in progress. These two features coupled with one another lets you see a game you may not otherwise have access to and live bet along with the action. Steaming doesn't necessarily mean you can watch a video broadcast of a game, but TwinSpires horse racing does broadcast live video and replays of races, which is not the case for the sportsbook.
BetShare is a cutting-edge feature that allows a customer to place and share a bet with others. Once you place a bet you can "share my bet" from the bet slip and other people can buy into the bet. The person who places the wager must front the full amount, then as others begin to buy in, the amount will adjust. You can share the bet via email, direct link, text message, Facebook or Twitter.
Powered by Sportradar, customers can select any game that TwinSpires offers, then click "view all stats." This will open a new page on sportradar.com that will list tons of information for the two teams playing in your selected game. For example: A game between the Philadelphia Phillies and San Francisco Giants encompasses information on all-time head-to-head record; who has the edge in that day's game (Phillies 33%, Giants 67%); in-season stats like runs per game; each team's performance in every game they've played to date that season; and much more to assist in your decisions.
This is specific to TwinSpires Racebook and is complete with information including class, pace and speed ratings along with pedigree stats, track data and an exclusive Prime Power Rating section. This information is downloadable from the handicapping store under the handicapping tab on the home page. Important note: You must place at least one wager from each race card you download, otherwise you'll be charged for the products, which range from $1-$5.
Also specific to TwinSpires Racebook. How it works: TwinSpires tracks down large horse wagering pools on certain racing days across various tracks. Customers can join this pool for $10. The Players' Pool then takes the buy-in from all the customers and uses the funds to select tickets that the customers, in turn, share proportionately. TwinSpires states this exclusive feature "is designed to be educational and fun and in no way guarantees a winning wager."
TwinSpires presents an organized sportsbook with a clean layout and color scheme. It offers all American sports and some international markets. Players can categorize by sport and access further market options by selecting a specific contest. Promotions are shown across the top of the screen on desktop and mobile, which, overall are near mirror images of one another. Since the desktop and casino app default to the casino page you'll have to manually switch to the sportsbook, and that sometimes creates a lag.
TwinSpires customer service for its sportsbook includes a live-chat option available 24/7. Contact information includes a customer service number (1-877-774-7371) available from 9 a.m.-2 a.m. ET, and email support (firstname.lastname@example.org). TwinSpires also has an informative FAQ section to help customers to resolve any problems, questions, etc., without having to engage with a TwinSpires representative or wait for a response.
Customers can self-regulate their sportsbook wagering by setting limits on deposits, wagers and time on site. TwinSpires provides a self-exclusion option as well. Each state-specific TwinSpires sportsbook features a "Responsible Gaming" tab where state-centric information is provided to ensure and help with achieving responsible betting.
We found during our extensive TwinSpires review that the platform works well on both desktop and mobile device. The selection of options for sporting events is good, however the contests and markets available within games are somewhat slim. There is no option for same-game parlays despite these being popular wagers offered by fellow operators. Hopefully, after BetAmerica is fully rebranded to TwinSpires and the operator expands to more states it also will expand its bet-type catalog to include more popular options. TwinSpires delivers on offering competitive odds compared to other online sportsbooks, so you can incorporate TwinSpires when you're "line shopping," no matter the market. TwinSpires also safeguards your personal and financial information with SSL encryption to ensure it can't be read by a third party.
Yes, you really can win money on TwinSpires. This online sportsbook is licensed and regulated in the states in which it operates, which cuts out uncertainty on collecting winnings. Customers can withdraw eligible money from their bankroll.
TwinSpires sportsbook is licensed and regulated in Indiana, Michigan, Pennsylvania, Tennessee, Colorado and New Jersey. It may be coming soon to other states where online sports betting is legal.
No. DraftKings and TwinSpires are two separate companies. TwinSpires is owned by Churchill Downs Inc. (think Kentucky Derby, the first jewel of the Triple Crown in horse racing). Churchill Downs Inc. also owns BetAmerica sportsbook, all of which are in the process of being rebranded to TwinSpires. DraftKings has no affiliation with Churchill Downs Inc. or the TwinSpires brand. The only connection that DraftKings and TwinSpires have is both platforms use odds provided by Kambi.
You can cancel a bet on TwinSpires sportsbook if you're using BetShare, which is a feature where a customer can place a bet and share it with other people to buy into. Aside from this, customers can "cash out" a bet, where you'll recoup money if the bet is losing or reap a profit if the bet is winning before it settles.
To bet on TwinSpires you must be at least 21 and be within state lines of where TwinSpires is established. TwinSpires sportsbook is licensed and regulated in Indiana, Michigan, Pennsylvania, Tennessee, Colorado and New Jersey. You don't need to be a resident of any of these states to place a wager through the TwinSpires sportsbook but must be physically present in one of these states to use this operator.
Yes, you can access TwinSpires sportsbook from anywhere but must be physically present in a legal state to place a wager. The TwinSpires sports betting site also is coming soon to Colorado and New Jersey, and the same rules apply.
TwinSpires has an online casino in Michigan and Pennsylvania and is coming soon to New Jersey and may do so in other states that have legal online casino gaming. TwinSpires does not have a commercial brand name casino that is land-based but does have retail sportsbooks in multiple states.
"I combine my sports and gambling interests to put new US sports betting and casino websites through the paces to give consumers an unbiased assessment of every site's strengths and weaknesses."
