Following the release of its online casino, Unibet launched its own online sportsbook into the US market.
Partnered with the Kindred Group, Unibet has been a staple in the European market for multiple decades and now hope to continue building the brand here in the United States.
Unibet NJ has a license from the New Jersey Division of Gaming Enforcement and is tethered to the Hard Rock Atlantic City.
In Pennsylvania, Unibet has a brick-and-mortar partner in Mohegan Sun Pocono, where Unibet PA runs the sportsbook at the physical location.
For its sportsbook in Indiana, Unibet operates under a gaming license registered to Horseshoe Hammond.
|Excellent Customer support||Launched a bit later than ideal|
|Generous Welcome offer||Few promotional offers in addition to the welcome offer|
|Simplicity in the interface|
The welcome bonus at Unibet comes in two parts: Registration and a risk-free wager.
Upon registering, players in all states will instantly receive three $10 bets in your betslip that can be used at any time.
Next players in New Jersey, Indiana and Pennsylvania will receive a risk-free bet up to $250. Simply deposit and wager any amount up to $250 and if your bet loses, you will get the money back no questions asked.
We are big fans of risk-free bets because it allows for new players on a lesser-known brand to come in and give it a shot and either stay or leave, depending on their experience. It’s totally their call.
The registration process at Unibet is a three-step process all done on one page.
Here is what is needed in each step:
2. Name, gender and date of birth
3. Address, phone number, create security question, bonus code (if applicable) and agree to the terms of service
This takes just a few minutes, if that and then you can be on your way!
Each method requires a $10 minimum deposit. The cash cage means to go to the affiliated land-based casino or sportsbook partner.
Bank transfers can take up to five days to complete, but PayPal withdrawals come nearly instantaneously. While debit/credit card options are available, Unibet recommends using ACH methods as some banks may block online gaming transactions. Examples of these banks are Bank of America, Capital One, JPMorgan, Chase and Santander.
With a green and grey color scheme, the Unibet interface is simple, but charming. Unibet is available not only on desktop, but Android and iOS, too.
On desktop, there is a search bar where you can search for sports and teams. On the left-hand side of the page the different sports are displayed. When you click on a sport, the games populate in the center of the page, with odds attached for moneyline, spread and totals. At the very bottom of where all the games are, you can also choose how you want the odds to be displayed.
At the top of the page, you can go between the sportsbook, casino, a getting started page and also the promotions page.
In the bottom-right corner of the page, there is a direct link to the live chat support.
The mobile app really isn’t much different. The only noticeable difference is that where the sports are displayed on the left side of the screen on desktop, they are in a drop-down menu in the upper left-hand corner of the page of the mobile app, more than likely for formatting and scaling to a smaller platform.
There are a wide variety of sports and markets available at Unibet Sports including but not limited to:
Note that different states have different rules for offerings. For example, in New Jersey you can’t bet on state college teams of collegiate competitions taking place in the state, though Pennsylvania has no such restriction.
Looking at the odds of some of the biggest competitors such as DraftKings and FanDuel, Unibet is essentially the exact same, so there’s nothing to worry about when it comes to that.
With live betting, it’s like any other kind of sports betting, but instead it’s wagering on an event already in progress, with odds shifting as the game progresses.
The cash out feature can be used on a bet that is in progress. With this, whether you’re in a good position or bad, you can exit a bet early if you choose. You will not get the full amount of potential winnings if your wager is winning, but if it is losing, it is also a way to mitigate a total loss.
Covering the betslip, it appears in the bottom left-hand-corner of the screen after making a selection. Here, you can place a wager on just one event, or, if you have multiple legs, create a parlay or wager on round robins. On whatever event you chose, on the betslip, there is an “X” to the left of it where you can cancel that leg, or there is a “Clear Betslip” button to erase everything completely.
Beyond their generous welcome offer, Unibet does offer additional and intriguing promotional offerings that will certainly get your attention.
Here are the two offerings:
Unibet offers 24/7 customer support for email, live chat and phone. You can find the live chat in the bottom right-hand corner of the page, no matter where you are on the site. Having great customer support is essential for online sportsbooks and being available 24/7 does just that.
With the green Responsible Gaming logo in the upper-right hand corner of the page, you will be brought to a section of the site totally dedicated to protecting the players.
Not only are there different organizations and hotlines you can reach out to, but also have systems in house to protect yourself such as deposit, session and spending limits.
There is also information on protecting potentially underage players from playing on the site as well as different myths about gambling and questions you should ask yourself if you feel like you’re internally battling with the idea you may have a gambling problem.
This section of the site is quite vast and filled with information, giving you a clear indication this is important to Unibet.
There really isn’t much to complain about here. Unibet has everything it needs on the platform to draw in new users. Simple, but effective. Go check it out.
