Hibernian are searching for a new head coach and the UK betting sites have put together a list of potential candidates.

Nick Montgomery was given his marching orders following a 4-0 defeat by Aberdeen on May 19.

That result left Hibs ninth in the table, and while they were never really threatened with relegation, it was still a disappointing season at Easter Road.

Indeed, it was the Edinburgh side's lowest finish since 2013/14.

David Gray took charge of the team's remaining two fixtures of the Scottish Premiership season, but a decision over Montgomery’s permanent successor has still not been made.

Who is in the frame? Let’s take a look at the possible contenders as described by football betting sites.

Murray And Gray Lead The Way

Ian Murray is now the favourite to be the next Hibernian gaffer at 7/4

Murray had Raith battling with eventual champions, Dundee United, for large spells this season before eventually missing out on promotion in the play-offs.

He is a Hibees hero after two spells at the club he supported as a boy and coming through the academy.

Current caretaker boss and Scottish Cup-winning skipper David Gray (2/1) has the advantage of knowing the club and having been unbeaten in his two games in charge, the former right-back has a strong case for making the position permanent.

Neil And Deila Among Strong Contenders

Alex Neil (5/1) struggled at Stoke in his most recent spell of employment, but he previously led Norwich City and Sunderland to promotions and may feel the time is right to return to Scotland after almost a decade away.

He is currently favourite to take the Birmingham City role, but with the St Andrew's outfit still yet to make a decision, he remains in the picture.

Ronny Deila, available at 6/1, was relieved of his duties as Club Brugge boss in March and is another name in the mix.

He has worked in Scotland before with Celtic, but Hibs may struggle to entice him to return to Scotland.

Could Stam Or Kennedy Get The Call?

Jaap Stam's career in management has been mixed to say the least. At Reading, he nearly achieved promotion to the Premier League, and he performed solidly with both FC Zwolle and Feyenoord.

However, his tenure in America with FC Cincinnati was unexpectedly difficult, leading to his departure in September 2021.

Despite this setback in the MLS, Stam's potential means he is regularly linked with high-profile management vacancies and is currently 8/1 to make the move to Easter Road with betting apps.

Hibs Next Manager Odds

John Kennedy (9/1) has made quite the name for himself in his role as Assistant Manager at Celtic.

This would be the third time the Hoops assistant coach has been considered for the hotseat in Leith, after he turned down the chance to be boss in 2019 and 2022.

It's thought Kennedy is keen to take the plunge into management at some point and has plenty of experience under his belt and has ambitions of becoming his own man, so would Easter Road be the natural fit?

McInlay And Duff Outsiders Right Now

With Davis Moyes' departure from West Ham, his former Hammers assistant, Billy McInlay (10/1), may just be looking for his next opportunity, depending on what the 61-year-old Scot decides to do next.

But if he were to venture out on his own, the Hibs job might just be a step too far for a man who hasn't managed in his own right since leaving Watford in 2015.

Meanwhile, an opportunity like this may have come too soon for Shelbourne coach Damien Duff (12/1).
