William Hill Sports Betting Bonus

New customers can claim €40 in free bets when they stake €10 on the William Hill sportsbook.

William Hill Promo Code

A promo code is needed to claim this offer. Enter - BB40 - in the Promo Code section when registering.

William Hill New Player Terms and Conditions

  • Sign up using promo code BB40
  • Deposit at least €10 to activate the offer
  • Place a minimum €10 bet at odds of 1/2 (1.5) or greater to qualify for the offer
  • If placing an each-way bet, only the win portion counts towards the qualifying stake
  • Once the qualifying bet settles, €40 in free bets is credited, split into four €10 tokens
  • Free bets can be used on any sportsbook product, excluding tote, pool and lottery bets
  • Free bets expire seven days after the qualifying bet is placed
  • Stakes are not returned with winnings from free bets

Is the William Hill Betting Bonus Worth It?

In my view, this offer sits in line with other sportsbook welcome bonuses in Ireland, with a €10 qualifying bet and an achievable minimum odds requirement.

The seven-day expiry window is tighter than some rivals offer, so free bets need using fairly quickly once credited.

Since free bets apply across the full sportsbook rather than specific markets, Irish bettors can use them on racing or football just as easily as anything else.

Key Benefits:

✔️ Single-Stage Structure - One deposit and one qualifying bet unlocks the full offer, with no multi-stage requirements to track

✔️ Wide Market Access - Free bets apply across football, racing, GAA and more

✔️ Achievable Odds Requirement - A 1/2 (1.5) minimum odds threshold suits straightforward singles

Who is This Bonus Best For?

✔️ This offer suits new bettors who want to try the sportsbook without committing to a large opening deposit

✔️ It works well for those who bet across a range of sports rather than one narrow market

✔️ Anyone comfortable using free bets within a week of qualifying will get full value from the offer

Regular Rewards

As one of the most widely-known betting sites in Ireland, William Hill runs a small number of ongoing promotions for existing bettors in Ireland - these include:

  • Best Odds Guaranteed from 8am - An opt-in guarantee of the better of the price taken or the official starting price on UK and Irish horse racing
  • Lucky Stable - A free-to-play horse racing game where players draw five random horses and share a jackpot if three or more win their races
  • Final One Standing - A free-to-play predictor game where players pick one team to win each round across the Premier League or Scottish Premiership
  • Acca Boost - Automatic win boosts of up to 200% on qualifying football and NFL accas of two or more selections, scaling with the number of legs
  • Bet Builder Winnings Boost - A 25% to 50% odds boost on Bet Builders of three or more selections at odds of 3/1 or bigger, up to a €20 stake
  • Racing Winnings Boost - A separate daily odds boost on standard horse racing singles and accumulators of up to 10 selections

Currently, William Hill does not currently offer a formal VIP program for Irish players.

William Hill Payment & Withdrawal Options

I found Irish players have a smaller range of banking options to choose from compared to some competitors, however the core methods cover most needs.

Accepted methods include Debit Card, Pay By Bank and Apple Pay, with credit cards not accepted for deposits under any payment type.

The minimum deposit is €5 via Debit Card, rising to €10 for Pay By Bank or Apple Pay, with a maximum of €99,000 across all methods.

Withdrawals start from €5, with Debit Card withdrawals capped at €33,000 for Mastercard and Visa Debit, €40,000 for Maestro or €35,000 for Visa Electron, processing within four hours for Visa Direct cards or one to three working days for other cards.

Pay By Bank and Apple Pay withdrawals are capped at €38,000, processing immediately to within one working day.

Know Your Customer (KYC) Process

I discovered William Hill carries out identity verification before a new account is opened, rather than waiting until a player's first withdrawal.

The quickest route is uploading an Irish Driving Licence. Without one, players need a passport or Irish Residence Permit, plus two proof of address documents dated within six months, such as a utility bill .

No fixed verification timeframe is published, but mine was completed within 48 hours.

William Hill Site Features

William Hill's sportsbook leans on long-standing racing authority and a broad sports list, and a few features stood out to me as genuine points of difference from smaller Irish-facing operators.

Bet Builder Hub

The Bet Builder tool allows multiple markets from a single match to be combined into one bet, with live leg tracking to follow selections as they settle.

Player stats markets are included, though Bet Builder bets are not eligible for Cash Out.

Cash Out

Cash Out is available across standard markets in football, tennis and other sports, as well as UK and Irish horse racing, although it's suspended on racing overnight and excluded on each-way bets and Bet Builder selections.

WHTV & Betting TV

Account holders with an active balance can stream a wide range of live sport through WHTV, while a separate Betting TV service shows selected UK horse racing and greyhound meetings completely free, with no bet required at all.

Watching a specific race through WHTV needs a minimum €1 qualifying stake on that race, while Betting TV carries no such requirement.

Impact Sub

If a player backed in a goalscorer, assist or card market is substituted, the bet automatically transfers to the substitute at the original odds, rather than being settled as a loser.

This applies across singles, multiples and Bet Builders with no opt-in required, covering markets such as anytime goalscorer, to assist and shots on target.

William Hill Mobile App

The William Hill mobile app is available on both iOS and Android devices.

  • App Store: 4.5★ (1,100+ reviews)
  • Google Play Store: 4.0★ (470+ reviews)

Player feedback on the Irish app listings is mixed, with recurring complaints about account verification delays and slow progress through live chat support.

Customer Support

Live chat is available for William Hill customers in Ireland, alongside email support.

When I tested it, I was connected to a human agent within about four minutes, after having to ask the chatbot to transfer me a few times.

Email remains available for less urgent queries, with the National Gambling Helpline offered separately for support needs.

Responsible Gambling

William Hill offers deposit, wager and time limits set on a daily, weekly or monthly basis, alongside time-outs from one day up to six weeks.

Self-exclusion runs from six months up to five years, or indefinitely with a minimum of 12 months.

All Irish players receive an hourly reality check showing session length and net position, alongside product blocking for casino, poker and other non-sports products.

Things to Note

A few points worth weighing up before signing up to William Hill.

Limited Payment Options

Irish players can currently choose from Debit Card, Pay By Bank or Apple Pay, a narrower list than some rivals offer.

No VIP Program

There is currently no tiered VIP scheme for Irish players.

No Esports Betting

Esports markets do not currently feature on the sportsbook, unlike some competitors in the Irish market.

Is William Hill the Right Betting Site for Me?

William Hill brings over 90 years of bookmaking history to the Irish market, with a sportsbook that spans football, horse racing, rugby and a wide range of other sports.

The sign-up offer follows a straightforward bet €10, get €40 in free bets structure, and once credited, those free bets can be used across the full range of markets rather than being tied to one sport.

Betting products hold up well too, with a genuinely useful Bet Builder Hub, flexible Cash Out and an opt-in Best Odds Guaranteed feature on UK and Irish racing that not every Irish-facing operator can match.

Impact Sub is a particular standout, automatically transferring player prop bets onto a substitute rather than settling them as a loser and existing players also get ongoing value through Acca Boost, worth up to 200% on larger multiples.

There are a few negatives worth flagging. Payment options are narrower than some rivals offer, there is no VIP program in the traditional sense and there is no Esports betting markets available to punters.

Overall, this remains a strong betting site for Irish bettors drawn to racing and broad sports coverage and I would recommend giving William Hill a look.

William Hill used to be better for promos. These days it feels like you need to opt in to five things just to get a small free bet.

They don’t always have the best odds for GAA. better value on Boyles at times.

William Hill’s been my go-to for golf betting the last couple of years. I like the way they offer extended each-way places for majors, saved me on a Rory bet more than once. Plus, they’ve got live coverage for some events which not every site does. Their odds are decent on the whole and you can get offers for rugby too when Ireland play.

not bad overall. i don’t love the layout on desktop but mobile’s grand. cash out works okay and they’ve got enough promos during weekends to keep it interesting. usually stick to football and GAA and they’ve got all the main markets.

Used WH for my Six Nations bets this year – good odds and they boosted Ireland v England at the last minute. Also used their bet builder for a couple of Leinster matches and it worked without a hitch. Interface isn’t the flashiest but it’s reliable, which I prefer.
