An official offshoot of the UK's The Sun newspaper, Sun Bingo has been a part of the Gamesys Network since 2006. As of August 2016, the platform will be taken over by Playtech, following a multi-million pound deal between the bingo operator and Playtech's CEO Teddy Sagi.

The takeover is expected to usher in a raft of changes, as well as over 15,000 new players, but until then the site will continue to look and feel the same as it has for the past decade.

Sun Bingo ran on the Gamesys Network till making the switch the the heralded Virtue Fusion in 2016. Naturally, joining the Virtue Fusion network has allowed Sun Bingo to be as technically efficient as it is ergonomically and aesthetically pleasing.

From the countdown timer in the top left of the screen directing you to the next game, to the toolbar directing you through the neatly compartmentalised underbelly, navigating through the site is extremely simple.

Another area in which Sun Bingo's software shines is the tabular layout of its games. Broken down into style, price and time, the overall design makes it easy for players to find the game they're looking for quickly.

Game Options and Features

From a gameplay perspective, Sun Bingo is able to draw inspiration from Gamesys' suite of games, which means everyone, from novices to seasoned players, are well catered for. Currencies accepted are Pound Sterling and Euro only and the range of games you can play includes 90 ball, 75 ball, 80 ball, and SNAP!

Beyond the regular speed and turbo bingo games, Sun Bingo customers can also squeeze in some casino action courtesy of a full roster of slots, table games and scratchcards.

While some will see these as a secondary offering, the added value these games offer in terms of jackpots (including some six-figure prizes) helps to make the site much more appealing to a broader spectrum of players. The net result of this is a platform that attracts more players and is therefore capable of generating much larger prizepools.

Its community portal is what makes Sun Bingo a joy to play. Located under the chat tab and acting as a sounding board for members, this section of the site is a great way for players to interact, share strategies and engage with everything the site has to offer. In fact, it's this feature that gives this online bingo site a touch of reality.

Security and Banking

Before you rush off and create your first account at Sun Bingo, it's important to know how the site protects you and who you can turn to in a crisis.

Being a fully regulated online bingo site means that Sun Bingo is licensed and overseen by the UK Gambling Commission. This regulatory seal of approval means that all games are controlled by a fully verified random number generator. Moreover, all your data and transactions are protected by Comodo Secure software.

In compliance with UK gaming regulations, all player funds are held securely in segregated accounts, which means you'll never lose out even if Sun Bingo runs into financial difficulties. If you ever need any assistance while you're online, you can hit the live chat button to get direct access to a customer service agent. If that option doesn't suit, you can contact the help department in one of the following ways: FAQ section, Email, Telephone.

Those looking to make a deposit and/or withdraw funds will be delights to know Sun Bingo accepts a wealth of payment methods. Players can use debit cards as well as trusted alternatives like PayPal and paysafecard. Processing times are typically quick for withdraws while instant for deposits.

User Experience

As far as user experience goes, Sun Bingo is simple yet effective. The landing page is used to shine light on the new player offer, as well as to guide new players through the sign-up process using a three-step system.

Instead of bombarding novices with a lobby packed with games, buy-ins and countdown timers, Sun Bingo's landing page creates a buffer that shows newbies the two main parts of the site: the welcome bonus and the sign-up procedure.

Once inside the main lobby, Sun Bingo is as bold as its tabloid parent. The familiar red and white colour scheme of The Sun is on full display on the homepage, as is another call to action – a testament to the site's commitment to casual players.
