It has been just over a month since Holly Willoughby left This Morning fans shocked by quitting the show.

The presenter is yet to have been permanently replaced on the brunch-time programme's sofa, but there is a surprise name at the top of the market with UK bookmakers.

While the likes of Alison Hammond, Josie Gibson and Rochelle Humes have stepped into the Holly-shaped hole on the programme since she announced her immediate exit on October 10, have they just been keeping the seat warm?

Abbey Clancy is the short-priced favourite to take over from Holly, who spent 14 years on the show.

Other names in the frame include Steph McGovern - whose Channel 4 daytime show Steph's Packed Lunch is to end at the end of the year - Kate Lawler, and Davina McCall.

Abbey's New Role?

Model and TV star Abbey is Evens favourite to replace Holly with the bookies.

Despite the short odds, it could be a big ask for the star - who has four children with her former footballer husband Peter Crouch - to fill such a void on the show, but there has been recent speculation she would entertain the idea of a guest spot on This Morning.

An insider recently told The Sun newspaper: "For Abbey, her children are always her priority and with so much on her plate at the moment work wise, a commitment like This Morning would naturally be a huge undertaking.

"A guest spot would be an ideal option, and given her and Peter are the ultimate double act on their podcast, The Therapy Crouch, they might be the perfect match while the search continues for a more permanent solution."

But if Abbey doesn't land the role, the likes of Alison, Josie and Rochelle should be at the forefront of bosses' minds.

Usual Suspects In The Frame

Former Big Brother stars Alison and Josie have both climbed the ranks on the show over the years, and either would be a worthy successor to Holly.

Alison - who currently co-hosts This Morning with Dermot O'Leary every Friday and during the school holidays, and steps in when needed - is just 7/2 to land the gig.

Josie isn't far behind at 6/1, but she is having a few weeks off from the This Morning sofa after heading to Australia to take part in I'm A Celebrity... Get Me Out Of Here!

While this could allow others to cement their place in ITV bosses' thinking for Holly's position, should Josie do well in the jungle - as she is tipped to do - then it will improve her stock and could put her in a much better position.

Rochelle is 8/1 joint-fourth favourite with Steph for the job, and Kate - another former Big Brother star who presents competitions on This Morning -  is a 12/1 outsider for the main role.

Meanwhile, This Morning fashion guru Lisa Snowdon is 16/1 and vastly experienced TV presenter Davina is 20/1.

Cat Could Get The Dream Job

This Morning bosses have tried out several presenters on the show over the years, and this week Cat Deeley made her second debut on the programme, after previously co-hosting a one-off This Morning episode in 2003 alongside the late Paul O'Grady.

Cat has been well backed by fans online to take on the job full-time, but she hasn't been mentioned in the market.

Another star without a mention is Sarah Ferguson, the Duchess of York, who has, according to the Daily Mirror newspaper, been in talks with ITV producers about landing a guest slot on the show.

She recently appeared on Loose Women to encourage women not to skip breast cancer screening and is said to have impressed ITV bosses.

A TV source recently told the Mirror: "The Duchess was a real hit with ITV bosses on Loose Women, everyone thought she was a natural. There is an open invitation for her to return to Loose Women and there is also talk of her doing a guest slot on This Morning or a mini-series for them.

"She has done quite a lot of TV work before - at one point she stood in for Larry King in the US."

In March, the Duchess appeared on This Morning, and Holly asked her at the time if she would be up for returning to the programme to conduct a "love phone-in".

Sarah replied: "Holly, I would love to do that maybe when you’re back from your annual leave and the Easter holidays! But there’s no question, that is right on topic. We love to love."

While there aren't active odds for the Duchess, she would surely be an outsider to replace Holly.

Other longshots include original This Morning presenter Judy Finnigan, who is 50/1 with Betfred.

Judy presented the show with her husband Richard Madeley from its inception in 1988 to 2001.

Ruth Langsford (33/1) also co-hosted with her significant other, Eamonn Holmes, for several years, but it would be a surprise if she returned to the programme permanently after her husband has been less than complimentary about ITV since he departed for GB News.
