How to Bet on The French Open

Placing French Open bets couldn’t be simpler. You first need to have an account with one of the tennis betting sites available in New Zealand- and it only takes a few minutes to sign up. You then need to make a deposit into your betting account in order to have a funded balance.

Once you have a funded betting account, you can navigate to the tennis section of your chosen bookie and select the French Open match that interests you.

Select the markets and odds which make the most appeal and tap/click on them to add them to your bet slip, which usually appears on the right-hand side of the screen. You then select the stake that you want to bet with and place your bets.

At this point, the betting site will let you know the amount your bet will return if it's successful. You can now sit back, relax and cheer on your selection!

Key French Open Info – How Roland Garros Works

There are a number of different competitions that run concurrently at Roland Garros. The men’s singles and ladies singles are the prominent events, although there are also men’s doubles and women’s doubles competitions.

The structure is a straight knockout format, with 128 players lining up in the singles events and competing as the field is effectively halved after each round. The French Open has been in operation since 1891, with this being the only Grand Slam tennis event which is played on a clay-court surface.

No French Open betting guide would be complete without talking about Rafael Nadal. The Spaniard is undoubtedly the greatest ever clay-court player, having landed 13 French Open titles while completely dominating the landscape between 2005 and 2020.

The legendary Bjorn Borg also recorded six French Open victories between 1974 and 1981, illustrating his ability on clay.

When it comes to French Open women’s tennis in the Open era, Chris Evert is the record holder with seven victories achieved between 1974 and 1986. Steffi Graf then took on the mantle and achieved six successive wins between 1987 and 1999.

French Open Betting Tips and Strategy

Considering the French Open is played on a specialist clay surface, it’s important to treat this tournament differently to betting on Wimbledon (grass), the Australian Open (hardcourt) or the US Open (hardcourt).

Below, we have put together some handy French Open betting tips which should hopefully help you place successful tennis bets.

Men’s Singles French Open Tip 2022 - Novak Djokovic

With Rafael Nadal struggling for full fitness, Novak Djokovic could take advantage of the Spaniard’s rib injury. Djokovic won the 2021 French Open and has far more experience at Roland Garros than some of the other market leaders, including Carlos Alcaraz and Stefanos Tsitsipas.

Djokovic has experienced plenty of success on other surfaces and has been particularly successful in the Australian Open, although he grew up playing clay-court tennis and will have enjoyed ideal preparation for the 2022 French Open after a stop-start period prior to the clay-court season.

Back Djokovic here at 11/4 with Ladbrokes.

Women’s Singles French Open Tip 2022 - Iga Swiatek

New world number one Iga Swiatek looks like taking all the beating when it comes to the 2022 French Open Women's Singles.

The Pole has enjoyed a meteoric rise up the rankings and she already has form on this surface from her shock victory in the 2020 French Open. This illustrates that she can perform on the clay court at Roland Garros.

Swiatek was priced at 12/1 in Australian Open betting before the first Grand Slam event of the year back in January and reached the semi-final stage.

She has had plenty of momentum since and celebrated her world number one status by winning the Miami Open.

That extended a winning streak to 17 matches and it’s likely that her odds will continue to shorten for a second French Open success, especially considering she recently cited the fact that clay is her favourite surface, where she feels the most comfortable.

Swiatek can be backed here at 5/2 with bet365.
