How to Play Free Roulette Games

Roulette is one of the easiest casino games to learn. It’s exciting to watch and simple to play once you know the basics.

The game centers on a spinning wheel with numbered pockets and a small ball. Your goal is straightforward - predict where the ball will land.

Step 1: Select your game
Choose the free roulette variant you’d like to try above and click Play Now to launch the demo.

Step 2: Place your bets
Pick your chip value, then place wagers on the table. You can back single numbers (inside bets) for higher payouts, or broader options like red/black or odd/even (outside bets) for more frequent wins.

Step 3: Spin the wheel
Click Spin and watch the wheel turn as the ball bounces around. Once it settles into a pocket, any winnings are paid automatically into your play-money balance.

Free Online Roulette Variations

One of the best parts of free roulette online is the variety. Beyond the standard game, you’ll find versions with unique twists - some improve the odds, while others add special rules or fresh formats.

The most common are:

Free European Roulette

This version uses a wheel numbered 0–36 with a single zero. The layout gives it a house edge of 2.7%, making it more favorable than American roulette.

Free American Roulette

Similar in appearance but featuring an extra “00” alongside the single zero. This additional pocket raises the house edge to 5.3%.

Free French Roulette

French roulette also uses a single-zero wheel but adds two player-friendly rules for even-money bets (red/black, odd/even, 1–18/19–36):

  • La Partage: If the ball lands on zero, half your stake is returned.
  • En Prison: Even-money bets are “imprisoned” when zero hits and carried over to the next spin instead of being lost outright.

These rules cut the house edge on even-money wagers from 2.7% down to 1.35%, making French roulette the most favorable version for players.

Free Mini Roulette

Mini roulette uses a smaller wheel numbered 0–12 with a single zero. If the ball lands on zero, half of all losing outside bets are returned. Aside from the reduced grid, it plays the same way as standard roulette.

Free Roulette Bets

Roulette bets fall into two main categories - inside and outside.

Inside Bets

Inside bets are wagers placed directly on individual numbers or small groups of numbers inside the betting grid. They have a lower chance of winning but offer bigger payouts. For example:

  • Straight-up: A bet on a single number, paying 35:1 in European and American roulette.
  • Split, street, corner, line: Covering two to six numbers with one bet.

Outside Bets

Outside bets sit around the edge of the betting layout and cover broader groups. They win more often but pay less. Common options include:

  • Even-money bets: Red/black, odd/even, or 1–18/19–36.
  • Dozens: First 12, second 12, or third 12 numbers.
  • Columns: One of three vertical lines of 12 numbers each.

Outside bets are ideal for steady play, while inside bets are riskier but can deliver much bigger rewards.
