Before the start of the Olympics, the Women's hockey tournament was expected to be more competitive than in previous Winter Olympics, but it will conclude just like all the others — with Canada and the United States dueling for the gold medal.

The puck drop is expected to be 11 p.m. ET tonight. In earlier action, Finland shutout Switzerland 4-0 to win the bronze medal.

So, how should you spend your sports betting money on this game? Let’s break it down.

Two Finalists Are Winning Big

The margin of victory by the Americans and Canadians when not playing against each other is the widest since 2010 when Olympic officials were largely undecided whether to keep woman’s hockey as an Olympic event.

The hope moving forward is to have 12 woman’s teams compete in the next Olympics and give more countries incentives to support and grow the sport.

Looking at the betting markets provided by Mr Green Sportsbook, the Canadians are a -130 favourite to win the gold during regular time. Team USA is +265 underdogs and a tie at the end of regulation is lined at +370.

Betting the Goals Scored Total

Betting on the total offers sports bettors ample opportunities with goals scored ranging from just two to as many as eight goals.

I believe the final combined score will be between 4.5 and 5.5 goals. The odds on BetMGM Sportsbook has the Over 4.5 at -160 and the Under at +125. It has the Over 5 at -110 and the Under at -115. The Over 5.5 is +130 and the Under is -165.

I like betting there will be a tie and getting +350 in the three-way action and Over 5.5 goals scored in regular time paying +130. So, I expect the match to be a 3-3 tie at the end of regular time and then be decided in overtime.

I like the Canadians first period scoring Over 0.5 goals and laying -160 vig. This means I have to bet $160 to win $100 or wager $16 to win $10.

As I stated above, I expect this game to be a 3-3 tie through regular time. So, I like the USA in the parlay that both teams will score three or more goals each in regular time, ending in a tie of 3-3, 4-4, et al. and the USA to win the gold getting back +950.

So there you have it. Remember always to bet with your head and never over it and may all the wins be yours.
