How to Play Free Baccarat Games
Baccarat’s scoring and third-card rule can look confusing at first, but the game itself is straightforward - and free play makes it easy to pick up.
The objective is simple: bet on the hand you think will finish closest to 9 - Player, Banker or Tie.
Cards 2–9 count at face value, 10s and face cards count as 0, and Aces count as 1.
Hand totals are calculated by adding the card values and dropping the tens digit (e.g. 7 + 8 = 15 becomes 5).

Baccarat is mostly a game of chance, but different bets make a difference. Free play is a risk-free way to learn the game and build confidence before playing for real money.
- Bet the Banker: The Banker bet has a fixed house edge of 1.06% in standard Punto Banco. Even with the 5% commission on Banker wins, it remains the best option because the Banker hand statistically wins more often.
- Bet the Player: A solid choice with a house edge of just 1.24%, though slightly less favorable than Banker.
- Avoid the Tie: The worst option. A Tie usually pays 8:1 with a house edge of 14.36%, or 9:1 in some versions at 4.85%.
- Learn the third-card rule: A total of 8 or 9 is a natural and both hands stand. The Player draws on 0–5 and stands on 6–7. The Banker draws on 0–2, stands on 7 and may draw on 3–6 depending on the Player’s third card - but it’s all automatic.
