Jadon Sancho faces an uncertain future at Manchester United and betting sites reckon he could well be on the move this summer.

The England international was a long-term target for the Red Devils before they eventually got their man in 2021.

But Sancho has been underwhelming during his two-year spell at Old Trafford and reports suggest United could be willing to let him go for the right price.

The forward started only 21 Premier League games in 2022/23, during which he was permitted to train away from the rest of the squad after Erik ten Hag revealed he was not “physically or mentally” ready to play.

Where will Sancho be playing his football when the transfer window closes? Let’s have a look at the latest betting odds.

Manchester United stay still most likely outcome

Manchester United will be loath to give up on Sancho just yet. Anyone who saw him play for Borussia Dortmund knows the winger is a top talent, and at 23 years of age he still has plenty of time to come good.

No one could argue that Sancho has delivered on his promise at United yet, but getting rid of him at this stage would still be a risk.

It would force the Red Devils to sign a replacement and it would not make much financial sense either, with potential buyers unlikely to offer big money for the former Dortmund man.

Man Utd are duly available at 1/6 with Bet365 to keep hold of Sancho, so it does not seem like Ten Hag is willing to give up on the attacker just yet.

Tottenham linked with swoop for Sancho

Tottenham have been linked with Sancho this summer as they look to bolster their attacking options ahead of the 2023/24 campaign.

Should the 23-year-old seek pastures new this summer, Spurs at 6/1 are seen as the most probable destination.

In truth, it is hard to see this deal getting done unless Harry Kane moves in the opposite direction. Club owner Joe Lewis has reportedly instructed Daniel Levy to cash in on Kane unless he puts pen to paper on a new contract.

That has put United on red alert, with the Red Devils potentially set to challenge Bayern Munich for Kane’s signature. Should United move into pole position, Tottenham may try to land Sancho as a makeweight.

Borussia Dortmund would surely take winger back

Borussia Dortmund would no doubt welcome Sancho back to Signal Iduna Park - and perhaps the player himself would privately encourage such a move.

In three seasons in the Bundesliga, Sancho scored 37 goals and provided 41 assists.

Jadon Sancho

He was undoubtedly one of the best players in German football at that time, and a return to a place where he was happy could help to get the forward’s career back on track.

This could become a more realistic prospect next summer if Sancho is still struggling.

Right now, though, odds of 10/1 with football betting sites suggest this is a long shot.

Aston Villa and Newcastle have high ambitions

Aston Villa (12/1) and Newcastle (33/1) qualified for Europe last season. Two huge and historic clubs, both have big ambitions and neither has wasted any time in the transfer market this summer.

Newcastle recently wrapped up the acquisition of Harvey Barnes for a fee in the region of £33m. Given that, it is hard to envisage them making a move for Sancho, who also operates on the flanks.

Similarly Villa have just strengthened their attack with the addition of Moussa Diaby, formerly of Bayer Leverkusen.

The Frenchman also plays out wide and Unai Emery is now likely to move on to targets in other positions. Do not expect Sancho to end up at either Villa or Newcastle by September.

Switch to European giants not on the cards

A couple of years ago Sancho was hot property and virtually every major club around Europe would have welcomed him into their team. But his stock has dipped since his move to Manchester United and the continent’s giants are not currently interested in him.

Were Sancho available on a free transfer, a club like Real Madrid, Barcelona or Bayern Munich may well opt to take a punt on him.

But because United would be looking to recoup a large chunk of the player’s £73m transfer fee, those three teams on betting apps are priced at 40/1, 50/1 and 50/1 respectively. Paris Saint-Germain are available at shorter odds of 28/1.

The French champions were previously keen on Marcus Rashford, but there is no indication they are considering an offer for his team-mate for club and country.
