Conlan vs Gill Predictions:

Michael Conlan (18-2) will seek to get his world title bid back on track this weekend when he faces off against England’s Jordan Gill (27-2-1) at the top of the bill in the SSE Arena, Belfast.

In a unique turn of events, both fighters come into this bout on the back of defeats and subsequently view this as a real make or break fight at this stage of their careers.

Conlan is the overwhelming favourite with betting sites to triumph and he will be hoping to return to winning ways in front of his home crowd, as the pair battle it out live on DAZN.

Defeat for either fighter could spell disaster for their future prospects in the sport and both cannot afford to leave any stone unturned if they’re to continue their voyage towards a world title.

Conlan To Resurrect Title Bid

Despite suffering two title fight defeats in the past two years, a win could put Conlan in line for a third crack at a world title.

The Irishman has won 18 of his 20 bouts and suffered his duo of defeats against Leigh Wood in 2022 and Luis Alberto Lopez in May 2023.

Equally as hungry to claim that elusive world title, he throws himself back into the ring against a tricky operator in Jordan Gill, who has aspirations of his own to be a world champion.

The grit and determination of Conlan is irrefutable and buoyed by a packed out arena, he earns our vote to get the win in this one.

Nine of his 18 victories have come by way of knockout and with victory being imperative, Conlan will do everything possible to secure an emphatic finish over his English opponent.

The best online betting sites for boxing have the 32-year-old at odds of 4/5 to secure a win by stoppage, which would take his knockout victories into double figures.

Following that disappointing loss to Lopez, it is not only imperative that Conlan secures a win, but needs to do so in convincing fashion if he would like to remain on the lips of the world’s elite.

Mick Needs To Be Quick Out The Blocks

Conlan needs to make a quick start on Saturday to ensure his home fans remain behind him. A lively arena could prove the difference in this one, as the repercussions of a defeat are realised by all of his supporters.

The 2012 Olympic Bronze medallist hasn’t quite seen his amateur success transition over the professional ranks, but his ambition and hunger continues to motivate him.

His technical ability is there for all to see and he has reaped the rewards on many occasions, but it is his defensive attributes that are in limbo.

The 32-year-old may have been hesitant fighting a big puncher after his loss to Lopez, however, with Gill having just a 29% knockout ratio, it allows Conlan to be fearless against a light hitter. Thus making an early bombardment is a real possibility.

His last win came via a first round knockout of Karim Guerfi a year ago, and a repeat of that performance in the same venue is not outside the realm of possibility.

This makes the 3/1 odds on betting apps for Conlan to secure a victory in the first half of the fight catch our eye.

The Irishman needs to be the aggressor from the off, but Gill, himself, has a point to prove following his defeat last time out. Whether he will stand and trade off with the technically superior fighter is yet to be seen.

With just eight knockouts in his 30 fights, it would be a seismic shock should the Brit manage a stoppage victory and going the distance isn't on either fighter's radar.

The fact that the 29-year-old is fighting in enemy quarters does him no favours and we expect him to have one of the toughest nights of his career ahead of him.

Tip: Conlan to win in rounds 1-6 - 3/1 with Betway
