The eagerly-anticipated 20th series of Strictly Come Dancing is nearly upon us - and two TV presenters are hot favourites to win this year's Glitterball trophy.

Countryfile host Helen Skelton and former X Factor star Fleur East are the two to beat so far, according to betting sites, but soap star Will Mellor and Bros singer Matt Goss have both seen money come for them since the Strictly book opened up weeks ago.

The first episode of the 20th series will get underway on Friday September 23rd, just a day before the first live episode on Saturday September 24th.

The opening episode was due to take place last week but was re-arranged following Queen Elizabeth's death, so Strictly viewers will be treated to a double dose of the show this weekend.

Strictly Come Dancing Favourites

Former Blue Peter presenter Helen is just pipping Fleur to favouritism, with most Strictly Come Dancing betting sites pricing her up as a 7/2 chance to win this year's series.

Hits Radio Breakfast Show host Fleur is 7/2 but punters may not know she has had words of encouragement from beyond the grave this week, after her cousin visited a medium.

Speaking on her radio show, Fleur said: "So my Dad passed away in 2020, his name was Malcolm and apparently he came through and wished me good luck ahead of Strictly. Is that not really weird? It’s eerie but it’s really comforting as well.

"Leading up to Strictly has been so nerve-racking and I’ve been so anxious and not having my Dad here for the first time before something so big in my life is huge. So to get a message like that is the set up I needed before the big weekend."

Will He Win It?

Former Hollyoaks star Will has seen his odds tumble from 9/1 to largely 6/1 in the past month, but Bet365 have lengthened slightly on him this week.

They are now 13/2 for the Coronation Street actor to win the series, but potential punters should be aware he has been struggling with his knees.

On Instagram, the Two Pints of Lager and a Packet of Crisps star shared a video of himself icing his knee with a bag of frozen peas, and the actor recently admitted he's worried one of his knees may even "pop out" during a live dance.

Speaking to media, he said: "I don't want to get injured. I've got bad knees and football injuries, operations and stuff. I'm having to ice them every night and stuff. So it's just, if they pop out in the middle of a dance routine live on telly, there's not much I can do because I will just hit the floor, and they do."

Singer Matt has also seen his price come in in the last few weeks after he was double-figure odds when the market opened but he now finds himself at 15/2.

Matt has told fans he is "optimistic" about his chances because he is "very supple from the knees down".

In The Running For The Glitterball

Elsewhere on specials betting sites, Paralympian Ellie Simmonds is 9/1 to win the trophy, in from 12/1 last month, while KISS radio presenter Tyler West is 10/1 with most UK bookmakers.

The midfield of the market also features former Coronation Street Kym Marsh at 16/1 with numerous bookies, as well as radio presenter Richie Anderson, who is 16/1.

Former Britain's Got Talent finalist Molly Rainford was as low as 8/1 to be this year's Strictly winner just last month, but she can now be backed at 16/1 with if punters think some bookies may be missing a trick.

Ted Lasso star Ellie Taylor's odds are a mixed bag, some offering a potentially generous 22/1, while other bookies are quoting just 12/1 for the comedian.

And it's also no laughing matter for comedian Jayde Adams, who is around 20/1, but just 16s with Coral.

Strictly Longshots

It may not be long before EastEnders star James Bye is repeating his surname on his way to the dancefloor exit if his odds on betting apps are to go by.

He had only just crept into double-figure odds at 14/1 last month, but the soap star is now 25/1.

Bet £5, Get £30

James joins Wildlife cameraman Hamza Yassin near the bottom end of the market, as the Countryfile star's odds range between 25/1 and 33/1 with the bookies.

Former Arsenal footballer Tony Adams and Loose Women anchor Kaye Adams may leave namesake Jayde as the only Adams in the competition in the coming weeks.

Ex-England defender Tony is 40/1 across the board with the bookies, while TV presenter Kaye is mainly a 50/1 shot, while some are offering 66/1 on her causing one of the biggest reality TV shocks of all time on Strictly's 20th series.
