19:51 Kempton: Aphrodite Spirit - 1pt Win @ 8/1
Aphrodite Spirit was a well held last of three on her latest start, but I think she’s capable of bouncing back on her return to an artificial surface.
Having shown promise on her first two starts, she got off the mark in quite taking fashion at Lingfield on her first run on the all weather.
Having raced behind the leaders, she was angled out to make her effort in the home straight and got on top inside the final furlong before idling and winning with more in hand than the margin over the runner up.
I think they got away with running her on very quick ground on her seasonal debut at Newbury when she was travelling worst with three furlongs to go and plugged on into third, but running on that same ground over a longer trip last time caused Aphrodite Spirit to perform poorly.
The return to an artificial surface this evening looks a positive for her chance and I think this trip could be ideal for her too.
It may turn out that there was a negative reason for the 266-day absence before her seasonal debut so she can’t get back to the promise of her Lingfield win, but I think this is her first chance this season to show what she’s capable of. Any 6/1 or bigger appeals.
