He often focuses on the back end of the market, finding angles that aren't evident to most.

15:15 Goodwood: U S S Charleston - 1pt Win @ 6/1
U S S Charleston could never get competitive at Chester last time, but I think this test will be more suitable for him and he has a good chance of gaining a second win this season.
He was held up in a fairly steadily run race last time and was unable to make any sort of challenge to the winner, but he should get a better pace to close into today.
I think he’s better on a straight track too, so the return to a track where he ran very well three starts ago in a stronger race is a positive for his chance too.
When winning comfortably at Yarmouth earlier in the season, he showed that he can perform well on soft ground so the rain that they’ve had at Goodwood is no concern for his chance.
There is a slight worry that he could be better drawn since he’s going to be racing away from the usually favoured near rail, but I think the market has overreacted to his last two runs and any 9/2 or bigger appeals.

17:00 Goodwood: Brosay - 0.5pt Win @ 16/1
Brosay hasn’t been running too well of late, but I think the market is underestimating his chance of bouncing back in the closing sprint handicap.
He ran well off marks in the low 90s earlier in the season at Ascot and Newbury when ridden prominently and was sent off second favourite for a race on soft ground over today’s course and distance, but he got very warm beforehand, was ridden more patiently and ended up being poorly positioned in the middle of the track.
Brosay simply wasn’t fast enough for five furlongs on quick ground at Ascot three starts ago and he’s been ridden patiently on both starts since so those can easily be excused.
I’m hoping that they will be looking to revert to more positive tactics today, particularly with him being drawn so well on the near rail.
He goes well on testing ground, including a victory at this track, so the rain is a positive for his chance too.
There is a concern that he might just be on the downgrade and might once again get warm beforehand and negatively impact his chance, but I think the handicapper has been a bit too generous with dropping him and any 12/1 or bigger appeals.
