Our Verdict: One of the UK's better exchanges, Matchbook offers low fees and more promos and features than rivals.

Quick Summary: Matchbook at a Glance

Matchbook is one of my favourite UK betting exchanges.

If you haven’t used an exchange before, it’s simple: you’re betting against other punters, not the bookie.

You can bet something will happen or lay (bet it won't happen). Matchbook takes 2% on winning bets - rivals are usually 2–5% - and I’ve even had spells at 0% when a promo was running.

The betting site and app are clean and quick, with football and horse racing front and centre.

What really sets it apart from rival exchanges is the steady run of weekly promos - there's lots of football offers and a greyhound free bet club.

There's also live streaming for horse racing, a feature many rival exchanges - like easyBet - lack.

Fixed-odds sites still pack in more extras and market for niche sports, but if you want exchange flexibility without giving up promotions, Matchbook is a great option.

Matchbook Pros
  • 0% commission promos
  • Lots of free bet offers
  • Racing live streams
Matchbook Cons
  • Sometimes lacks niche markets
  • Can't use Ewallets to claim welcome offer

Matchbook Welcome Offer vs Offers From Competitors

I claimed Matchbook's £30 free bet offer without any hassle.

It required me to place two £10 bets: one exchange bet at evens or better, plus one three-team acca at 2/1 or better.

The next day, I got three £10 tokens (exchange, multiples, bet builders). Standard free bet rules apply - you keep the winnings, not the stake.

You need to use a debit card when claiming the offer.

Range of Sports at easyBet

Matchbook prioritises the sports that matter most to UK punters.

Football and horse racing get top billing, with good coverage of tennis, cricket, golf, and major US sports too.

Matchbook's Football betting section has all the standard markets - match results, handicaps, total goals, and bet builder options.

With some great weekly free bets offers that will appeal to fans of accumulator betting and bet builders.

The horse racing betting offering is split into win and place markets, so you can essentially create your own each-way bet by backing both if you want.

And golf betting fans get added value with a PGA Tour money-back deal.

I like Matchbook because it offers features like racing live streams and more promos than most pure exchange sites.

That said, if you like betting on obscure leagues or want daily price boosts across loads of different sports, traditional fixed-odds bookmakers like William Hill or Betano have more variety.

Live In-Play Betting at Matchbook

n-play betting feels responsive and straightforward.

As the odds move, Matchbook shows what you’d win or lose in the moment.

You can tap the opposite side (back or lay) to cash out and lock in a profit or cut a loss in a couple of taps.

The in-play graphics feel pretty basic for most sports, though I found the horse racing live stream quality top-notch.

Other live streams appear for some events but not consistently.

If you want comprehensive live video and detailed match graphics for every game, bet365 and William Hill are still better.

But for most in-play bettors (and especially racing punters), Matchbook delivers.

User Experience & Site Design

Matchbook's design philosophy is clearly "keep it simple".

It feels clean and easy to use, with no flashy banners and side games cluttering things up.

You get a clear search function, sensible filters, blue buttons for backing bets and pink/red for laying them, plus a clean bet slip. Pages load quickly and changing your stakes is easy.

I rarely experience any lag when switching between different events.

One minor annoyance: some of the less popular markets are hidden behind extra clicks, which can slow things down when you're building accumulators.

Overall though, it keeps distractions to a minimum so you can find your match, pick your price, and place your bet.

Matchbook Betting App

I've tested both the iPhone and Android versions of Matchbook's betting app and they're solid.

The app mirrors the desktop experience - quick search, stable odds, and Face ID/fingerprint login.

It's remained smooth even during busy Saturday afternoons when lots of people are betting.

The ratings back this up: 4.8/5 on Apple's App Store (from about 1,600 reviews) and around 4.4/5 on Google Play.

It opens fast, lets you place bets quickly, and sends reliable notifications.

The downsides are the same as the website - limited live stats and streams except for racing, and some niche sports require a few extra taps to reach.

But overall, Matchbook nails the important stuff and gives me everything I want from a betting app.

Customer Support

Matchbook's support team is genuinely helpful.

Live chat answered my questions about payment methods and accumulator rules within minutes when I tested it one evening.

Email replies came back the same day. There's no 24/7 phone line, but you can request a callback through chat for more complex issues.

The help section covers the basics well, so you can often find answers yourself.

Compared to bet365's round-the-clock chat, Matchbook's hours are more limited, but they're long enough for most UK punters:

ChannelAvailabilityMy Experience
Live Chat09:00–02:00Fast replies, helpful agents.
Email24/7Clear answers in less than 12 hours.

Responsible Gambling at Matchbook

All the standard responsible gambling tools are easy to find here: deposit limits, reality checks, time-outs, self-exclusion, and complete betting history.

If you want to increase limits, there's a cooling-off period first.

Clear links to GambleAware and other help resources are in the help center.

It's the standard UKGC toolkit that every licensed operator provides, and it's simple to access from your account area.

The Bottom Line: Final Thoughts on Matchbook

Matchbook punches above its weight, with more features and consistent weekly promotions than rival exchanges.

The app is fast, finding popular matches and race meetings is easy, and withdrawals are processed quickly.

Existing customer promotions are more consistent than some other exchanges, though they focus heavily on football multiples and greyhound racing.

The trade-offs are clear: less comprehensive live video than bet365, and fewer niche markets than William Hill or Betano.

But if you want a betting exchange with low fees and more features than rivals, Matchbook delivers.
