Who Will Win MasterChef 2024? Chris Heads Into Finals Week As Narrow Favourite

This week's MasterChef episodes saw the cooks battle it out in the last of the semi-finals before Finals Week.

Several stars have been chopped from the competition, leaving a sparse market on betting sites.

It has been a tense time in the MasterChef kitchen this year for the 58 home cooks who started series 20.

Chris Not Clowning Around

On Friday night, the final five went head-to-head in a bid to make it to Finals Week.

For their semi-final challenge, the quintet were tasked with taking inspiration from a past MasterChef contestant.

Judges John Torode and Gregg Wallace asked the cooks to create a plate of food inspired by some of the exceptional cooks previously seen in the 20 series of MasterChef.

While deliberating who should go through to Finals Week, John admitted he was "absolutely blown away" by the talent in the semi-final, and the judges declared Chris and Brin were "absolutely the stand-out cooks" in the semi.

John praised circus performer Chris as an "original cook" for his "right out there" food, and his grub was described as "playful, exciting and fascinating".

Chris goes into Finals Week as the 6/4 favourite on new betting sites, but Brin isn't far behind him.

'Stand-Out Cook' Brin

Brin cooked up an unusual chocolate and lamb flavour combination for John and Gregg in the semi-final - but it proved to be a top choice.

After tasting the dish, John said Brin had taken a risk throughout the competition which had "paid off", and that he had done more of the same in the semi-final.

Brin is now 2/1 second favourite on specials betting sites to win this year's MasterChef, narrowly ahead of 3/1 chance Abi.

During the judges' semi-final deliberations, they decided Abi had done "more than enough to show their real MasterChef credentials" on Friday night, and she also advanced to Finals Week.

Louise Vs Mary

While Chris, Brin and Abi all eased into Finals Week, John and Gregg were faced with a tough decision for the fourth spot.

It was between Mary and Louise, but Louise just scraped through.

She made a fish dish in the semi, and while Gregg's fish was "perfect", John's was a little over done, which put her place in Finals Week in doubt.

Fortunately for Louise, she did enough and is now 5/1 on betting apps to win the MasterChef trophy, but it was bad news for Mary, who had to go home.

Despite her exit, Mary said she had enjoyed the time of her life in the competition, adding: "It's been beyond anything I thought I would experience."

Next week, the remaining four cooks will head to Singapore for the first part of Finals Week, and at the end of the week one of the cooks will be crowned 2024 MasterChef champion.
