Next Chelsea Manager Odds: Amorim Favourite To Take Over From Pochettino
Chelsea saw their eight-game unbeaten run in the league come to a shuddering end when they lost 5-0 to Arsenal at the Emirates.
It was the Blues' worst ever defeat to their London rivals and leaves them ninth in the table and in danger of missing out on European football next season.
The loss also increases the pressure on manager Mauricio Pochettino, who has been feeling the heat for the majority of the season.
The embarrassing loss followed the club's exit from the FA Cup on Saturday, when they were beaten 1-0 by Manchester City at Wembley.
The club has to decide whether to stick with the Argentine for next season, or make another managerial change in the hope of returning the good days back to Stamford Bridge.
Betting sites have constantly updated their next Chelsea manager market after each game this season and will continue to do so until the season ends.
Gambling.com spoke exclusively to Premier League veteran Phil Babb, who gave his verdict on Pochettino's future as Chelsea boss.
"I think high profile managers at a club like Chelsea are under pressure basically from day one. It's a massively expensive squad that they’ve assembled, they haven’t fired well enough consistently enough, so yeah, he’s under fire."
Will The Blues Appoint Aromim?
Ruben Amorim has been linked with a few jobs in England in recent weeks and he has now emerged as the favourite to take over from Mauricio Pochettino as Chelsea boss.
Amorim had led the market to be named as Jurgen Klopp's replacement at Liverpool, but it seems the Portuguese manager is no longer in the mix for a switch to Anfield.
The 39-year-old has attracted a lot of attention for the job he is doing at Sporting Lisbon in his native country.
Sporting are closing in on their 20th domestic title; Amorim's side are seven points clear of Benfica with just four matches remaining.
If Chelsea do agree a deal with Amorim, who is the 6/5 favourite, they will be getting a man who knows how to win trophies.
Tuchel To Return To The Bridge?
Thomas Tuchel only lasted seven games of the 2022/23 season before he was sacked, ending a 20-month spell in charge of the Blues.
During his time at Stamford Bridge, Tuchel guided the team to a 1-0 Champions League final win over Manchester City in Porto in May 2021.
Tuchel has a chance of winning a second Champions League in four seasons before stepping down as Bayern Munich manager at the end of the season.
West London could be Tuchel's next home and at 7/4, football betting sites are not ruling it out completely.
Will De Zerbi Make Stamford Switch?
Recently, a lot of roads from Brighton's Amex Stadium have led to Stamford Bridge in west London with several players making the switch, including midfielder Moises Caicedo.
Former Seagulls manager Graham Potter also took that road only to find the job was much tougher than he thought and he was fired less than seven months in the job.
Roberto De Zerbi replaced Potter on the south coast, and after leading the Seagulls into Europe for the first time ever, the Italian is a much-wanted man, with a choice of opportunities to choose from in the summer.
De Zerbi is a confident man, and he might feel he is the right man to turn the Blues around and he can be backed at 2/1.
Sanchez To Be Rewarded For Girona Success
Michel Sanchez's name is resonating throughout the footballing world, thanks to the remarkable job he is doing with Spanish side Girona.
The La Liga minnows are nine points clear of Athletic Bilbao in fifth place, so a top-four finish and qualification for next season's Champions League looks assured.
The 48-year-old manager has attracted attention from several English clubs this season, one of which sees him surface as one of the candidates for the Stamford Bridge hot seat.
Sanchez, whose odds have come in to 7/2 from 8/1, could prove to be a savvy appointment for Chelsea in years to come, so don't rule him out of being Pochettino's replacement.
Slot Keen To Manage In England
Arne Slot has achieved so much in Dutch football, that the next obvious step is a move to England.
Slot guided Feyenoord to the Eredivisie title last season and added the Dutch Cup to his achievements this season.
He came very close to winning the inaugural Europa Conference League final in Tirana in 2022, but his Feyenoord side were beaten on the night by Roma.
Linked with the Liverpool job, Slot (4/1) seems open to a move to the Premier League, and if the Anfield job eludes him, then he might fancy the Chelsea job.
Southgate Might Need A Job After Euros
Whether he wins Euro 2024, or crashes out in the group stage, there is a distinct possibility that Gareth Southgate might be ready to return to club management.
If this summer's Euros in Germany are to be Southgate's final games in charge, he may want a break from the game before taking on his next role.
A chance to manage Chelsea might be too big to resist, which is why the 53-year-old is 5/1 to be Chelsea's next manager.
He will know a number of the players, who he has called up into the national team over his eight years in charge of the Three Lions.
Can Flick Turn Fortunes Around At Chelsea?
Hansi Flick was the favourite to succeed Pochettino, but his odds have drifted in recent weeks and he is currently available at 6/1.
The 58-year-old has been a free agent since September 2023, after becoming the first manager in Germany's history to be sacked as the national team's coach.
He failed as Germany boss, but he won trophies at club level and is available without Chelsea needing to pay compensation.
It is also rumoured that Flick has expressed an interest in becoming the next Barcelona manager, so he will be a man in demand this summer.
Mourinho Continues To Be Linked With Return
It has been more than eight years since Jose Mourinho's departure from his second stint as Chelsea manager, yet he stands at 8/1 on betting apps to return for a third spell at Stamford Bridge.
Mourinho, who was recently relieved of his duties as Roma boss, ended I Giallorossi's 14-year trophy drought in his inaugural season, securing the Europa Conference League trophy by defeating Feyenoord in the final.
Despite managing rivals Manchester United and Tottenham, Mourinho's legacy and trophy-winning qualities continue to make him a compelling candidate for a return to Stamford Bridge.
O'Neil Doing Wonders At Wolves
Wolves deserve a lot of credit for appointing Gary O'Neil as their manager just days before the start of the season.
After losing four of his first five games in charge, O'Neil has turned Wolves' fortunes around and their highest finish in four seasons is possible.
A 2-1 win over Manchester City at Molineux earlier this season won't have gone unnoticed and the former Bournemouth manager is in the conversation at 12/1 to be Chelsea's next permanent manager.
Zidane Not Out The Running
Despite being out of work for over two years, the legendary Zinedine Zidane has drifted to 20/1 with new betting sites to assume the managerial position at Chelsea.
Named the 2017 Best FIFA Men’s Coach, Zidane may command a substantial salary, but it falls within the financial capabilities of Chelsea, opening the door for a potentially exciting new chapter under the leadership of the esteemed Frenchman.
