Next Liverpool Manager Odds: Klopp Could Make Dramatic Return

Arne Slot is under pressure as Liverpool manager and betting sites have opened a market on who will replace him.
The Reds suffered their sixth league defeat of the season last weekend, losing 3-0 at home to Nottingham Forest in a dismal display.
After a dominant start to the season, they have now fallen to 11th in the table, and are closer to the relegation zone than to Arsenal at the top of the table.
Slot has plenty of credit in the bank after winning the Premier League title in his debut campaign, but no manager can outrun bad results forever.
Fans were seen leaving Anfield early against Forest, and there were some angry outbursts in the aftermath.
Captain Virgil van Dijk was one of many players to deliver a poor performance for the champions, and he told BBC Sport that the fans can't be blamed for leaving.
"I can’t decide what the supporters are doing if they leave early," he said.
"I know the fans have been through thick and thin with us. They will be there with us when we come out of this because we will come out of this."
It is unlikely that the owners will hit the panic button and sack Slot just yet, but the Dutchman will need things to improve sooner rather than later.
Who will be next through the door if Liverpool do make a change?
Let’s take a look at some of the main contenders to take the reins at Anfield.
Klopp Clear Favourite
Jurgen Klopp is the 2/1 favourite in the next Liverpool manager market and would be the most romantic - and arguably the most popular - appointment.
The German oversaw a golden era during his previous spell at Anfield, delivering the Premier League, Champions League, FA Cup, League Cup and Club World Cup while rebuilding the club into a modern powerhouse.
His departure was framed as a break rather than a farewell, and many supporters believe unfinished business remains after nearly a decade of transformation.
Klopp’s connection with the city, the players and the fanbase is unlike anything Liverpool have experienced in the modern era.
If the door ever opened to his return, the Kop would welcome him back with open arms.
Iraola Deserves To Be Discussed
Andoni Iraola is another Premier League manager in demand. Despite losing the majority of his defence in the summer, Iraola has somehow made Bournemouth even better than last season.
The Cherries are one point ahead of Liverpool after 12 games, and are proving to be a difficult team to beat under the Spanish coach.
Iraola’s stock has risen considerably since joining from Rayo Vallecano in 2023, and Liverpool would almost certainly have him on their shortlist in the event of Slot leaving.
The 43-year-old is the second-favourite in the market at 5/1 on betting apps, with Bournemouth unlikely to stand in his way if the Reds come calling.
Next Liverpool Manager Odds:
Manager | Odds | Probability |
Jurgen Klopp | 2/1 | 33.3% |
Andoni Iraola | 5/1 | 16.7% |
Oliver Glasner | 6/1 | 14.3% |
Unai Emery | 9/1 | 10% |
Julian Nagelsmann | 10/1 | 9.1% |
Zinedine Zidane | 12/1 | 7.7% |
Marco Silva | 14/1 | 6.7% |
Mauricio Pochettino | 14/1 | 6.7% |
Xavi | 14/1 | 6.7% |
Steven Gerrard | 20/1 | 4.8% |
Cesc Fabregas | 25/1 | 3.8% |
Glasner A Wanted Man
It might be a case of 'if you can't beat 'em, ask them to join you' for the Liverpool board - if they decide to make a change of manager.
Oliver Glasner is unbeaten in all four meetings with the Reds in 2025 in the league, Community Shield and now the Carabao Cup.
Oliver Glasner's Last Four Games Against Liverpool:
Competition | Date | Fixture | ||
PL | May 25 | Liverpool | 1-1 | C Palace |
CS | Aug 10 | C Palace* | 2-2 | Liverpool |
PL | Sept 27 | C Palace | 2-1 | Liverpool |
LC | Oct 29 | Liverpool | 0-3 | C Palace |
(* won on penalties; PL - Premier League, CS - Community Shield, LC - Carabao Cup)
Glasner has done an outstanding job at Palace, guiding them to the club's first-ever major trophy, which qualified them for this season's Conference League.
With his contract set to expire next summer, Glasner is 6/1 for the Liverpool job as things stand.

Emery Emerges As Serious Contender
Unai Emery (9/1) has emerged as one of the intriguing contenders in the next Liverpool manager market, his reputation having been enhanced by his success at Aston Villa.
The Spaniard’s pedigree in European competition - including multiple Europa League titles - gives him a tactical profile that would appeal to Liverpool’s hierarchy as they look for a proven, detail-driven coach.
Emery has rebuilt Villa into a top-four challenger, showcasing his ability to elevate player performance and implement a clear identity quickly.
While he may lack the historical connection to Anfield that some candidates possess, his winning track record would nonetheless command respect from the fan base.
If Liverpool are looking for a meticulous strategist with both Premier League and elite European experience, Emery will remain a serious contender.

Nagelsmann Has Big Club Experience
Although Glasner and Iraola are fantastic coaches, neither has experience managing an elite club like Liverpool.
Julian Nagelsmann does. The 38-year-old's spell in charge of Bayern Munich ended poorly, but he is undoubtedly a better manager because of that experience.
Nagelsmann is getting ready to lead Germany at next summer’s World Cup, but he will be eyeing a return to the club game in the near future.
The former RB Leipzig and Hoffenheim coach was one of the favourites for the job just weeks ago, but has now drifted to 10/1.
Zidane Another Classy Candidate
Zinedine Zidane is another outsider at 12/1, with his Champions League–winning pedigree ensuring his name never stays far from any elite vacancy.
Although he has yet to manage in the Premier League, his stature and success at Real Madrid would instantly command respect inside the Liverpool dressing room.
Marco Silva, available at 14/1, presents a distinctly different profile - a highly respected Premier League manager who has rebuilt Fulham into a disciplined, technically strong side with a clear identity.
His experience in English football and proven ability to develop players make him a credible, if less glamorous, contender.
Both men represent contrasting visions for Liverpool’s next chapter, and they remain in the conversation despite their double-figure odds.
Xavi And Poch Among Outsiders
Other managers in the running on football betting sites, include former Tottenham and current USA men's team Mauricio Pochettino (14/1), although he is unlikely to leave his current role, at least until after the World Cup next year.
Ex-Barcelona boss Xavi is another candidate at 14/1 in the betting, with club legend Steven Gerrard a big outsider at 20/1.
Cesc Fabregas, who has done an impressive job with Como in Serie A, is 25/1.
