The fifth week of the 2022 CFL season starts tonight.

When considering how to bet, keep in mind that scoring is up from last year and is approaching the pre-pandemic level of more than 50 points per game. The average from 2010-2019 was 50.3.

At least this week, all signs point to high-scoring games.

This week’s schedule with moneyline.

  • Calgary Stampeders 1.56 at Edmonton Elks 2.44, Thursday, 9 p.m. ET
  • Ottawa Redblacks 3.06 at Saskatchewan Roughriders 1.40, Friday, 9:30 p.m. ET
  • Winnipeg Blue Bombers 2.39 at British Columbia Lions 1.60, Saturday, 7 p.m. ET

Game of the Week

Winnipeg Blue Bombers 2.44 at British Columbia Lions 1.60

This game should be a high-scoring contest, as British Columbia comes in with a revved-up offense. That offense carried the Lions to a 34-31 win last week over Ottawa.

Winnipeg will try to stay undefeated after nearly losing to Toronto last week. It was not the easy win many were expecting. Winnipeg’s 23-22 victory caught quite a few pundits off guard.

British Columbia gets this showdown at home. The Lions have a vulnerable defense, but Winnipeg has not looked quite like themselves. The Over is 48.0. This feels like a contest to run with the Over.

Expect Lions’ quarterback Nathan Rourke to have another big night at home as British Columbia deals Winnipeg its first loss.

Best Bet of the Week

Calgary Stampeders 1.56 at Edmonton Elks 2.44

This line might shorten before game time. The Calgary Stampeders are well-rested, coming off a bye week. Meanwhile, Edmonton won its first game of the season last week, beating the Hamilton Tiger-Cats, 29-25.

After playing better against Hamilton, Edmonton comes in with a 1-3 mark, feeling assured about its offense. Even so, the Elks are giving up nearly 410 yards and 35 points a game.

In this game, these two teams are going to get in the end zone. Take the Over if it stays at 52 or below.
