Fighting for the best playoff position, the Toronto Raptors will look to avoid being swept by the lowly Detroit Pistons when they get set to play at 7:30 p.m. ET today at the Scotiabank Arena.

The Pistons have won the first two of the three scheduled games between the two teams despite sitting in 14th place in the Eastern Conference with a 15-47 record. The Raptors are seven games over .500 and in seventh place in the Eastern Conference with a 34-27 record.

Pistons Success Against Raptors

The fact that the Pistons have defeated the Raptors five consecutive times is remarkable by itself. But, the Pistons are a robust 22-11-1 against the spread for 67% winning bets when taking on an opponent that is allowing 108 or fewer points per game.

I do believe that the Raptors players know this fact and will bring a bit extra focus and effort to this matchup to end this horrid stretch against one of the worst teams in the NBA.

The Pistons have struggled all season, but the market has priced them well as the 31-31 against the spread record shows. The Pistons are 6-26 and a 15-17 against the spread on the road. Over their past 10 games, the Pistons have gone 3-7 and covered the spread in half of those games for a 5-5 record.

The Raptors are 17-13, covering the spread in 16 of those games at the Scotiabank. Over their past 10 games, they have earned a 6-4 record with a 5-5 against the spread mark.

They have the seventh-best home record in the Association, going 34-26-1 against the spread, for 57% winning bets. However, as a single-digit home favorite, they are 14-8 with an even 11-11 against the spread record.

What’s the Market Telling Us?

The line for this matchup opened with the Raptors installed as an 8.5-point home favorite and a total of 216 points.

The spread has not moved in early action, but money did come in on the Over bet pushing the market to its’ current price of 217.5 points.

The total is likely to push higher and may even reach 219.5 points later today. So, getting on that now is the preferred strategy if you like the Over bet.

Trends and Angles

The following trends and angles support the Raptors to cover the spread.

The Pistons are 3-12 against the spread. The Raptors are 27-10 ATS following a win of six or fewer points in games played over the past three seasons.

I am going to the window to bet the Raptors as a 3% (3-Unit) wager.
