Upcoming Celtics vs. Raptors

The Raptors (5-6) were blown out by the Milwaukee Bucks, 128-112, on Wednesday night. Scottie Barnes had 29 points for the Raptors. Jakob Poeltl had 13 points and 11 rebounds.

The Raptors again were impacted by the absence of forward O.G. Anunoby (cut finger) and Gary Trent Jr. (right foot).

Rookie guard Gradey Dick was in the starting lineup for the Raptors, and finished with 11 points (2-10 FG, 1-6 3PT). He’ll start tonight – talk about tossing a rookie into the deep end of the pool.

The Raptors continue their four game homestand (Nov. 13-19) with their NBA In-Season Tournament debut against the Celtics. The Raptors are the only team who have yet to play an In-Season Tournament Game. The Celtics are 1-0 after a victory against Brooklyn last Friday, while the Nets sit at 2-1.

The remaining East Group C Teams (Chicago & Orlando) are still looking for their first victory. This is the second time Toronto and Boston are meeting within a week (Nov. 11-17). Boston took the first match up, dominating the Raptors 117-94 at TD Garden last Saturday.

The NBA In-Season Tournament is a new annual competition for all 30 teams in the league, with the championship scheduled for Dec. 9. There are two stages - Group Play and Knockout Rounds. All 67 games across both stages of the tournament will count towards the regular season standings, except for the championship. $500,000 per player on the winning team is on the line.

The Celtics (9-2) are coming off a big 117-107 win over the Philadelphia 76ers Wednesday night. C Kristaps Porzingis is day-to-day with a knee issue, listed at ESPN as “questionable” for tonight, C Al Horford is day-to-day, listed as “probable”, with a big toe sprain, SG Jaylen Brown (illness) is listed as “questionable” this morning. It should be noted – the Celtics beat the 76ers without Porzingis and Brown.

Prediction #1 - Outcome: Celtics 1.37; Raptors 3.37

Our money this morning is on the Celtics to win, especially if Anunoby remains out. SI.com reports this morning that he’s “doubtful” for the game, while Trent is listed as “probable”.

Prediction #2 - Over/Under: Over 223, -1.92; Under 223, 1.96

According to Pinnacle: O/U is 222.  The Celtics are averaging 119.5 points this season, the Raptors 108.5. While the Raptors are challenged offensively, to say the least, they’re on home court, and with Trent likely back in the lineup (10.4 PPG, 36.9 FG%), we’ll take the Over.

Prediction #3 - Prop Bets

Scottie Barnes is one of just three players in the NBA currently averaging 20+ points, 9+ rebounds and five-or-more assists along with Joel Embiid and Nikola Jokic. Barnes recorded his team-leading seventh 20-point performance Wednesday against Milwaukee finishing with 29 points (11-19 FG, 3-3 3PT, 4-5 FT), nine rebounds and seven assists. But it’s the Celtics – allowing 106.0 points per game. Barnes Under 32.5 Points + Rebounds + Assist (1.81) at Pinnacle is a good option.

More Pinnacle odds for Celtics vs. Raptors

The Raptors should come out of the gate with a charge, looking to make amends for the Bucks’ blowout. The Raptors currently rank fifth in the NBA in offensive rebounds (13.1). Try the NBA bet of Over 57 (1.92 at Pinnacle) for the First Quarter Total.

As a comparable this morning, here are other sports betting sites' odds for the game:

  • BetMGM has the Moneyline at Celtics 1.36, Raptors 3.25;
  • NorthStar Bets it’s Celtics 1.32, Raptors 3.55.
