The NHL Playoffs showed some consistency on Thursday night as the Carolina Hurricanes won at home and covered the Puckline. Then, the Calgary Flames and Edmonton Oilers finished off the “Battle Of Alberta” with an ending that was sudden yet poetic.

Now, let’s examine this further and make a few more Friday night picks to get you ready for your NHL betting.

The Battle Of Alberta Was An Offensive Bettor’s Dream

The “Battle Of Alberta”, a series that Edmonton won 4-1, was fun and featured lots of scoring. The way it happened was far from expected.

The seven-goal second period on Thursday that the Oilers won 5-4 in overtime, featured four goals in just 71 seconds. It made that single goal in the first stanza meaningless. That relatively calm period was just blown out of the water. That was the hallmark, err calling card, of this series.

As for Canadian sports bettors, the player props continued to provide profit. The Over connected yet again. A lot of the player props from Connor McDavid and Leon Draisaitl hit again. Yes, Connor McDavid did not get two points but that series-clinching goal saved a lot of bacon.

For example, Leon Draisaitl had 15 assists in this series (17 points in all). He had 3+ points during every game of the series. The questions that would arise if the Colorado Avalanche advance will become astronomical. Let us not get too far ahead of ourselves.

Colorado and St. Louis Game 6 From St. Louis

The St. Louis Blues appeared ready to be eliminated on Wednesday night. They were down 3-0 in the second period to the Colorado Avalanche. Nathan MacKinnon had scored two goals and assisted on another. He looked dominant with the Blues having no answers on how to generate offense.

The Blues scored once, then again, and then again. Even when Nathan MacKinnon answered the bell, the Blues countered. St. Louis even found offense from Tyler Bozak of all people in overtime to force a Game 6 at home.

St. Louis clearly has the offense to match Colorado’s. These two teams rank third and fourth in goals per game. The Blues had nine 20-goal scorers. The Avalanche had eight players who produced 50+ points.

So, why would we expect anything less than more offense tonight? That is where bettors in Canada have to continually hammer certain “patterns”. After all, can goaltending be trusted on either side at this point?

Game 6 figures to be similar to the first five games of this series. Game 5 was immensely entertaining. Expect the same tonight.

Here are some bets to consider and more outside-the-box ones, too.

  • Colorado wins in regulation – 1.91 (moneyline is 1.57).
  • Nathan MacKinnon anytime goal – 2.25.
  • Nathan MacKinnon Over 1.5 points – 2.50.
  • Both teams scoring 2+ goals and Avalanche win – 3.00.
  • David Perron anytime goal – 2.70.
  • David Perron Over 1.5 points – 4.70.
  • Ville Husso Over saves prop – Check number.
  • Colorado Puckline (win by two or more goals) – 2.35.
  • Nazem Kadri Over 3.5 shots – 2.35.

The Stanley Cup Playoffs Weekend

Here are some things to watch as the long holiday weekend approaches.

The series numbers for Saturday’s Carolina-New York contest should hold firm. There will be numbers to watch. Also, keep in mind, that if St. Louis should win tonight, Game 7 will be Sunday evening from Denver.

For the aforementioned Hurricanes and Rangers game, look toward numbers from winning margins, 60-minute results, etc. The key will be playing the waiting game to attempt and maximize value. Even the Under at 5.0 goals is 2.20 currently. That could change between now and Saturday night.

Will Round 2 end on Saturday night or will we see a Sunday and even perhaps a Monday night game? Stay tuned!
