Canada is heading into its final game before the World Cup in November with a sudden burst of confidence after an easy night in Austria when the Maple Leafs defeated the World Cup hosts, Qatar.

Cyle Larin and Jonathan David got a goal each in that comfortable victory, but the pressure needs to get cranked up immediately against a Uruguay team that just lost for the first time in almost a year.

Here are our betting tips and predictions as Canada takes on Uruguay at noon ET today.

A same game parlay for our three picks is +954 with FanDuel.

Both Teams Not to Score

For all the excellence Canada has shown across its World Cup qualifying campaign, it has slowed quite a bit since securing World Cup status in March. A 1-0 loss to Panama and a 2-1 loss to Honduras mean just one win for the Maple Leafs as they defeated Curacao 4-0.

Uruguay has lost just once in eight games and defeated Panama 5-0 a month after it beat Canada. A recent loss to Iran did stun the nation, but confidence is still high with a comfortable qualification into the World Cup and wins over Mexico and Chile this year.

Uruguay also drew the United States men's national team in March, and the Americans failed to score. Here against Canada, we think it could get another shutout.

Both teams not to score is -116 with FanDuel.

Over 1.5 goals

Off a loss to Iran and a 0-0 tie with the USMNT, there is a reason to believe this could be a low-scoring game. Uruguay is set to field stars like Luis Suarez and Darwin Nunez, and it will be eager to jump back into winning ways after such an embarrassing defeat to Iran - this was the lowest-ranked nation Uruguay had lost to since losing to Bolivia in November 2021.

We think it should be a game for Nunez to get back in the goal-scoring books ahead of a highly-anticipated return to the Premier League. What's more, Suarez has helped La Celeste score 16 goals in seven games in 2022, losing just one of those. This thinking alone is enough to believe this game brings in more than 1.5 goals.

Over 1.5 goals is -290 with FanDuel.

Darwin Nunez to Score Anytime

So much was expected of Nunez when he joined Liverpool for more than $80 million. A decisive goal in the Community Shield win over Manchester City saw him live up to the hype, and he also has one Premier League goal in three games so far this season.

For Uruguay, it's actually been two years since he scored, but with Edinson Cavani now out of action, it feels like the time for last season's Primeira Liga top scorer to become the main man for Uruguay after his record-breaking transfer to Liverpool.

Nunez will also potentially play as the sole striker against Canada as Suarez could sit on the bench after playing 90 minutes against Iran.

Nunez to score anytime is +160 with FanDuel.
