Canadian Soccer Team to Face Curacao in the CONCACAF Nations League

Canada will play its second game since qualifying for the World Cup and the first match since March when it meets Curacao at 10:30 p.m. ET on Thursday. The game will be televised on OneSoccer.
The national team went on strike last weekend before the game against Panama, which meant the cancellation of two games in June already.
This game against Curacao in the Nations League will tell us a lot about its World Cup chances in a few months.

Who is Curacao?
Canada has not yet played in the CONCACAF Nations League, because of its focus on World Cup qualification.
This means it trails Honduras and Curacao by three points, but with those two nations already playing each other twice, Canada has the chance to move top of the table with a win.
Leandro Bacuna and Juninho Bacuna are the two notable names for Curacao, with both men playing in the Championship in England. Goalkeeper Eloy Room is another name Canadian fans will be aware of as he won the MLS Cup with Columbus Crew back in 2020.
Alphonso Davies to have 2+ Shots on Target
After securing World Cup qualification against Jamaica, Canada went on to lose against Panama. However, things are set to be very different now with the return of star player Alphonso Davies, who missed the last set of fixtures and the World Cup qualification win over Jamaica.
Despite being one of Europe's best left-backs when playing with Bayern Munich, for his country, Davies sets up as a forward. The Bayern superstar has amassed a fantastic record in doing so, with 10 goals from just 30 caps, and against a poor Curacao side, Davies will look to get many shots away.
He missed much of the season through injury, but he now has a point to prove with his country following no appearances to date in 2022 and only two to go before the finals.
Jonathan David to Score and Win
Jonathan David has had another fantastic year back in Europe, and he’s once again established himself as the most prolific North American player in Europe’s top five leagues. The Lille striker was a vital ingredient in them stunning France to win the Ligue 1 title last season with 13 goals throughout the campaign.
Although David and Lille would lose the title and finish a shocking 10th this season, the Canadian superstar went on to score two more than his previous with 15 goals, as he was easily Lille’s best player.
In fact, considering the team only scored 48 goals in total in Ligue 1, with 15 coming from David, it’s fair to say he almost single-handedly ensured they finished no lower than 10th.
The 23-year-old is the main man alongside Davies for Canada, and David now has 20 goals already for Canada in just 30 caps. Now, against a Curacao side not good enough to make it to the World Cup qualifiers final round after a two-legged loss to Panama, he and Canada will look to get a bunch of goals on record with just two games to go before their first World Cup since 1986.
