CFL Betting: Let's Go Against the Spread

The eighth week of the 2022 CFL season kicks off tonight. Let’s look at another four-game weekend schedule to help with your CFL betting.

CFL Betting Advice: Against The Spread!

Thankfully Winnipeg saved all the Canadian Sports Bettors again from a rough week.

The Blue Bombers have started the season off 7-0. Furthermore, some fun numbers have suggested just how efficient Winnipeg has been.

Team Straight Up ATS ATS Units Over/Under
Winnipeg 7-0 5-2 +2.8 2-5
BC 4-1 3-2 +0.8 3-2
Calgary 4-1 2-3 -1.3 4-1
Edmonton 2-5 3-4 -1.4 5-2
Hamilton 1-5 1-5 -4.5 3-3
Montreal 2-4 4-2 +1.8 5-1
Ottawa 0-6 2-4 -2.4 3-3
Saskatchewan 4-3 4-3 +0.7 4-3
Toronto 3-2 3-2 +0.8 3-2

With Week 8 upon us, there is that one big matchup. Surprisingly, the “matchup of the week” involves Winnipeg at Calgary on Saturday.

It is time to find some prime bets while looking at the games. Below is the CFL Week 8 Schedule.

This Week’s Schedule with Moneylines (All Times Eastern)

  • Montreal Alouettes (2.35) at Hamilton Tiger-Cats (1.63), Today, 7:30 p.m.
  • British Columbia Lions (1.77) at Saskatchewan Rough Riders (2.10), Friday, 9 p.m.
  • Winnipeg Blue Bombers (Even) at Calgary Stampeders (Even), Saturday, 7 p.m.
  • Ottawa Redblacks (2.73) at Toronto Argonauts (1.43), Sunday, 7 p.m.

Game of the Week

Winnipeg Blue Bombers (Even) at Calgary Stampeders (Even)

This game could be a pretty good offensive show in its own right. The last meeting went down to the wire as Winnipeg held Calgary out of the endzone on the last play. Calgary had a chance to tie the game. Both teams had chances to score even more than the 26-19 outcome indicated.

Winnipeg, as we mentioned, keeps winning. It is a CFL-best 5-2 against the spread, but the Under is also a robust 5-2. Zach Collaros leads the league in passing yards with 1,705 but has played seven games.

Both teams are excellent but can Calgary figure out a way to slow down Carlton Agudosi? Agudosi, the talented Winnipeg wide receiver, used his considerable reach to haul in two touchdowns. The Stampeders did not seem to have any answers.

Bo-Levi Mitchell has been better this year but was an awful 12 for 28 in Winnipeg with just 167 yards passing. He had a touchdown and that interception which honestly was not his fault. Is this the week Winnipeg finally loses one?

Take the Even spread here and side with Calgary this time around. If the Stampeders needed to make a statement, it is now.

Best Bet of the Week

British Columbia Lions (1.77) at Saskatchewan Rough Riders (2.10)

The Over on the slate has been good for some teams but bad for one in particular (Winnipeg). So, the best news here is that British Columbia has connected on the Over in four of their five games. It has the added luxury of two bye weeks.

After losing last week, a short-handed Saskatchewan team faces a high-flying offence in the Lions. After all, British Columbus leads the league in points per game at 35.2. That makes for an exciting series of bets in this tilt.

Straying from the moneyline is a simple way to look at this tilt. The Over remains reachable at 49.0.

Saskatchewan’s scoring might be erratic but should be able to put up points at home. Canadian bettors should note that British Columbia gave up 43 points in its road clash against Winnipeg.

Pick the Over-Under, Canadian bettors.

Power Rankings

  1. Winnipeg Blue Bombers
  2. Calgary Stampeders
  3. British Columbia Lions
  4. Saskatchewan Rough Riders
  5. Montreal Alouettes

Extra Points

These are some other bets worth a look at on this week’s schedule:

  1. Montreal Race to 10 points at 2.00
  2. Montreal/Hamilton Half Time / Full Time lead at 5.00
  3. Calgary to win by 1-6 points at 4.50
  4. Calgary’s first scoring play a touchdown at 4.25
  5. British Columbia Lions -1.5 for the game at 1.91
