Week 12 of the 2022 CFL season begins on Thursday night, so let’s take a look at the four-game weekend schedule to get you prepared for your CFL betting.

CFL Betting Advice: Against The Spread!

Canadian Sports Bettors, we are thankful that British Columbia found a way to win against Calgary. That did come at quite the cost. We have more on that a little further down the article.

It is an interesting week with an intriguing first matchup and a potential Saturday night trap.

There is a nice matchup right off the bat tonight: the Calgary Stampeders facing the Winnipeg Blue Bombers for a third time this season.

So, let’s try to boost the spirits of Ontario sports betting players while diving into the games. Here is the CFL Week 12 Schedule.

Game of the Week

Calgary Stampeders 2.90 at Winnipeg Blue Bombers 1.43

This game will be more of a challenge than most expect. It is a contest where question marks pop up. Winnipeg lost to Montreal at home of all teams to break its nine-game winning streak. Of all the teams to lose to, the Alouettes were not one anyone saw coming.

Calgary has been a bit up and down. There have been losses to Winnipeg and a close loss to British Columbia. Its defense has shown to be a bit too vulnerable to the passing game. Winnipeg has exposed that twice in the season series so far. Can this game be a trifecta?

Winnipeg is also 7-3 against the spread. Only British Columbia is better at 7-2. The problem is three of the past four contests have been a little dicey for the Blue Bombers. No one is sure quite how Winnipeg will bounce back.

Also, can it rectify that kicking problem? Missing several kicks is worrisome.

The Blue Bombers allow a league-low 18.2 points per game while the Stampeders score almost 30. That creates an exciting battle of contrasts. Can Jake Meier deliver for Calgary? The answer is likely no.

The defense is a risky direction to pivot for sports bettors in a matchup where both teams can pile up some points. Even with that Over at 49.0, expect a game where 45-50 points might be the maximum. This is quite the risk.

Bet the Under with Winnipeg laying six points and roll the bones.

Best Bet of the Week

Ottawa Redblacks 2.40 at Edmonton Elks 1.61

The Over on the slate had been hitting at an excellent rate with Edmonton, but we lost on that last week. However, we made up for it with the Elks’ outright win and getting 4.5 points. That was a nice bonus for what was a tough weekend.

Ottawa scored three points in a clunker, then laid an even more giant egg at home against Edmonton. That 12 points had to be rock-bottom for Ottawa. It has won just once on the season in nine games. Few expect a second win anytime soon.

Edmonton has played better in flashes, and bettors in Canada have to feel good here. Does one take the Over? Does one play it safe?

Roll with the point spread (three points), Canadian bettors, but watch to see if the Over shifts between now and Saturday. If this backs up a bit to say 47.5, that might be tempting.

Injury News

It is unfortunate that Nathan Rourke suffered a Lisfranc injury in the fourth quarter of the BC Lions’ win against Saskatchewan.

Surgery means that Rourke’s foot will be immobilized for a minimum of 6-8 weeks. Recovery is expected to be 3-6 months.

On the low end, Rourke still would be unable to return by the Grey Cup. Though the quarterback believes he can come back ahead of schedule, the reality is not likely. British Columbia will have Michael O’Connor under center for the rest of the regular season. Futures will lengthen with the Lions but do not stray too far away wager-wise.
