Eurovision Predictions 2023 | Semi-finals are Around the Corner

The stage is set, and the spotlight is ready to shine on the Eurovision Song Contest 2023. As fans gear up for the event, bookmakers have released their latest Eurovision 2023 betting odds, after the dress rehearsals of semi-final 1. As one of the most-watched international music competitions, Eurovision promises an unforgettable experience. This year's edition will be hosted by the city of Liverpool, on behalf of Ukraine, the winner of the competition in 2022.

With a week of thrilling performances, participating countries are putting their best foot forward to impress the judges and secure their spot in the Grand Final on May 13th. As the excitement builds, fans are eagerly awaiting to see if the bookmakers' predictions will hold true or if there will be an upset in this year's Eurovision Song Contest.

Eurovision 2023 predictions after rehearsals

Rehearsals have been known to impact Eurovision predictions, with changes in performances during these practices leading to shifts in bookmaker odds and fan predictions. Observing these rehearsals can serve as a useful tool in predicting the outcomes of the contest, as reactions from both the press and fans can also influence betting patterns. As such, keeping an eye on the rehearsals can be crucial in making informed bets about who will qualify for the final in this year's Eurovision Song Contest.

As predicted, Sweden (1.01) and Finland (1.01) remain favourites to qualify from the semi-final 1. Israel (1.01) moves ahead of Norway (1.01) after the dress rehearsals. Czechia, Moldova, Serbia. Switzerland, Portugal (despite a lacklustre performance) and Croatia are also expected to qualify for the Grand final.

As for semi-final 2, dress rehearsals are scheduled on Wednesday 10th May and Thursday 11th May. Austria (1.04), Australia (1.06) and Cyprus (1.06) are in top 3 of the odds to qualify for the big day so far.

Who will be eliminated after the semi-final?

As the Eurovision Song Contest approaches, the rules are clear: 10 countries from each semi-final will qualify for the Grand Final on May 13th. While it seems likely that the top 5 in each group will make the cut, the final spots may hold some surprises, keeping audiences on the edge of their seats.

Rehearsals for semi-final 2 are still to take place, and might see some fluctuation depending on the dress performance. Denmark (1.4), Poland (1.25) and Estonia (1.67) are predicted to battle for the last ticket to the Final.

Based on early projections, the first semi-final of Eurovision 2023 is expected to see the Netherlands, Malta, Latvia, Azerbaijan, and Ireland facing elimination.

Eurovision Song Contest 2023: Who is the favourite?

Eurovision has had its fair share of unexpected moments throughout its history, with several countries surprising audiences with their performances and securing victory against the odds. One notable example is the 2011 contest, where Azerbaijan won with the song "Running Scared". Despite being a relative newcomer to the competition, Azerbaijan managed to secure the victory and surprise many betting enthusiasts. Other examples of underdogs winning the competition include Portugal in 2017 and Austria in 2014.

So will this year's competition bring us an unexpected winner? The new voting system allowing audience from a non-participating country to vote by phone or SMS might spice the outcome of the competition. So far Loreen, representing Sweden with the song Tattoo, is incontestably the favourite in the odds. However, France, with La Zarra interpreting Evidemment, has been steadily raising in the top 3 over the past few weeks. Finland is ranked in the second place according to predicted votes, but may place first for the televote.
