Montreal and Toronto helped lead us to a winning CFL betting week last time out. Just hitting the point props alone was enough to offset the disaster that saw lower scoring in Week 2.

With Week 3 waiting, why not go bold? A few trends have appeared. Is there a scenario to lean on the Edmonton Elks with points? Yes.

The idea remains to find some best bets while eyeing different angles. Below is the CFL Week 3 Schedule and our best betting opportunities.

This Week’s Schedule with Moneylines (All Times Eastern)

  • Saskatchewan Roughriders 1.59 at Montreal Alouettes 2.36, Thursday, 7:30 p.m.
  • Hamilton Tiger-Cats 2.61 at Winnipeg Blue Bombers 1.52, Friday, 8:30 p.m.
  • Edmonton Elks 3.91 at Calgary Stampeders 1.28, Saturday, 7 p.m.
  • Toronto Argonauts 2.73 at British Columbia Lions 1.48, 8 p.m.

Game of the Week

Edmonton Elks 3.91 at Calgary Stampeders 1.28

This game expects some scoring as both teams allow their fair share of points. The Elks could easily give up 30 this week on the road, but Calgary might as well — allowing 28.5 points a game so far.

Edmonton stood up nicely to the Saskatchewan Rough Riders last week. It was not the blowout some feared. At 8.5, this spread is a bit daunting.

Edmonton could get a cheap backdoor cover and the Over bearing fruit in the fourth quarter. If the Over stays below 50, bet it. Expect movement between now and Saturday evening.

Best Bet of the Week

Toronto Argonauts 2.73 at B.C. Lions 1.48

This one might shorten a little more before late Saturday night. Yes, the B.C. Lions are something else on offense, and Toronto took advantage of an inept Montreal squad last week.

After escaping with a scant win because of a missed Montreal field goal, what happens against a Lions team that put up 59 points in Week 1 against Edmonton? It was against the Elks, but home cooking is home cooking.

See if the spread moves to 4.5 from 5.5 before Saturday night; that is one point of attack. The other is the Over here if it stays below 50. Take B.C. with their offense to attack down the field and win.
