Upcoming Chiefs vs. Eagles

It’s a Super Bowl rematch on the card for this evening, with the Eagles (8-1) looking to exact some revenge for their loss at the hands of the Chiefs (7-2) in Super Bowl LVII last February.

Two Top 10 league offences go head-to-head – Eagles fifth in the NFL, averaging 376.8 yards per game, Chiefs eighth in the league, averaging 368.7 yards. Eagles’ quarterback Jalen Hurts is 14th in the league in passing (2,347 yards), Chiefs’ QB Patrick Mahomes is ninth, at 2,442 yards.

The Chiefs are coming off a bye week, and as Associated Press laid out, head coach Andy Reid is 31-6 coming out of a bye, including when he coached the Eagles.

Then there’s the circus around the game – Eagles center Jason Kelce going up against his brother, Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce, both media megastars now, with rumors that Travis’ girlfriend Taylor Swift will fly in for the game.

How does the injury list look for both teams going into tonight’s game? The Chiefs are healthy. The Eagles? Not so much. Starting tight end Dallas Goedert is out with a broken arm. Linebacker Nakobe Dean went on injured reserve last week with a foot injury.

Prediction #1 - Outcome: Eagles 2.23; Chiefs 1.72

Chiefs to win, factoring in Philadelphia’s pass defence (29th in the NFL, at 257 yards per game), and Mahomes’ record playing on big stages. The Eagles are 14th in passing yards allowed (2,313).  Chiefs are second to the San Francisco 49ers in points allowed per game (15.9), fourth in passing yards allowed per game (176.0). There’s been lingering questions about Hurts’ knee, and the absence of Goedert is big.

Prediction #2 - Over/Under: 45.5, O: 2.03, U: 1.87

According to Pinnacle, O/U is 45.5. That Eagles pass defence has us leaning on the Over in this one.

Prediction #3 - Prop Bets

Go with Kelce, on the Anytime TD at Pinnacle, 1.74 Yes, 2.01 No (we’re going with Yes), and Kelce 1st TD Scorer, Yes 5.88, No 1.09. The Chiefs are going to come out strong at home, and Kelce, like Mahomes, always performs on the big stage. Chiefs to win is safe, but if you’ve got some extra money to go a little riskier, you can’t lose taking Kelce on MNF.

More Pinnacle odds for Chiefs vs. Eagles

The Chiefs are -2.5 to cover (1.87), a good bet considering Reid’s record coming out of bye weeks. Plus Reid is 5-0 against his former team. The Eagles have allowed 19 passing TDs, third most in the NFL.

As a comparable this morning, here are other sports betting sites' odds for the game:

  • BetMGM has the Moneyline at Eagles 2.25, Chiefs 1.67;
  • PointsBet Canada Canada it’s Eagles 2.20, Chiefs 1.69.
