Huge Western Conference Showdown

The Minnesota Timberwolves (47-21, tied for 2nd in the Western Conference, 0.5 games out of first) host the Denver Nuggets (47-21, tied for second in the Western Conference, 0.5 games out of first), the highlight game of the night. 

The Dallas Mavericks (39-29, 7^th in the Western Conference, 8.5 games out of first) are jockeying for playoff positioning, in San Antonio to play the last place Spurs (15-53, 32.5 games out of first), led by young phenom 7-foot-4 C Victor Wembanyama.

Game 1: Timberwolves vs. Nuggets Insights

The Timberwolves are coming off a huge come-from-behind 114-104 win over the Jazz in Salt Lake City on Monday, wiping out a 16-point deficit. Minnesota has won four games in a row.

The Nuggets are coming off 107-105 loss at the buzzer to the Dallas Mavericks Sunday, off a running left-handed shot by PG Kyrie Irving. That snapped a five-game winning streak.

C Karl-Anthony Towns is out with a knee injury for the Timberwolves, and C Rudy Gobert, dealing with a rib injury, is listed as questionable for tonight. G Jaylen Clark (Achilles) has been ruled out, while C Naz Reid (head injury) and SG Anthony Edwards (finger) are listed as day-to-day. 

Edwards had 32 points against the Jazz. Jokic leads the Nuggets with 25.9 points, 12.2 rebounds and 9.1 assists this season. According to BetMGM, he’s seeing the highest ticket percentage (16.3%) and highest handle (28.3%) for NBA MVP.

For the Nuggets, PF Zeke Nnaji (back) is listed as questionable for tonight. 

T-Wolves vs. Nuggets Player Props

If you’re into online betting, most bet player props according to BetMGM are led by Rudy Gobert Under 27.5 Total Points and Rebounds (1.80), Nikola Jokic To Record a Triple Double (3.40) and Kentavious Caldwell Pope Under 8.5 Points (1.91).

At DraftKings, Jokic First Field Goal (5.00), Jamal Murray Over 1.5 Three Pointers Made (1.56) and Anthony Edwards Over 4.5 Assists (1.95) are most bet player props.

Game 2: Mavericks vs. Spurs Insights

The Mavericks are motivated to avoid the NBA Play-In and are coming off that emotional win over Denver on the last-second Irving shot. 

The Mavs are in a tight battle with the Sacramento Kings and Phoenix Suns for sixth place in the NBA’s Western Conference. C Luka Doncic has paced the Mavs all season, leading the team in points (34.4), rebounds (nine) and assists (9.7).

Dallas will be without F Josh Green, out with an ankle sprain. Doncic is questionable for tonight’s game because of hamstring soreness, according to ESPN, while G Dante Exum (foot) is probable. PF Zach Collins (concussion) won’t play tonight for the Spurs.

The Spurs, the worst team in the NBA, are in the midst of an eight-game home stand and are coming off an 122-115 win over the Brooklyn Nets Sunday in OT.  Victor Wembanyama remains the story in San Antonio, leading the Spurs in points (20.8) and rebounds (10.4). He led the way Sunday – 33 points, 15 rebounds, seven assists and seven blocked shots.

Mavericks vs. Spurs Player Props

On the NBA betting front, at BetMGM, Jeremy Sochan Over 9.5 Total Rebounds and Assists (1.67), Tre Jones Over 10.5 Total Rebounds and Assists (1.74) and Victor Wembanyama Over 23.5 Points (1.83) are generating the most player prop betting action.
