UFC 312 Betting Picks & Parlay

UFC is heading down under this weekend for UFC 312 in Sydney, where Sean Strickland takes on Dricus Du Plessis in the main event with the aim of becoming a two-time middleweight champion.

Strickland has happy memories of Sydney's Qudos Bank Arena having stunned Israel Adesanya to capture the middleweight strap at UFC 293.

He was a sizable underdog on betting sites that night against Adesanya and finds himself in a similar position for this rematch with Du Plessis, who took the gold off 'Tarzan' via a split decision at UFC 297.

The co-main event on the card is Zhang Weili vs Tatiana Suarez in a strawweight championship encounter, while Australian heavyweight Justin Tafa steps inside the Octagon to take on Tallison Teixeira.

We've been through established and new betting sites to pick out our best bets for the card, as well as a parlay paying +642.

Dricus Du Plessis vs Sean Strickland Betting Preview

Du Plessis (22-2) claimed the middleweight belt off Strickland via a split decision which divided opinion among fight fans, many of who felt the American had done enough to retain his title.

Strickland (29-6) made good use of his jab throughout the first meeting but didn't produce enough positive work otherwise to deny Du Plessis becoming the first South African to claim a UFC strap.

It was a similar story in Strickland's last outing against Paulo Costa, a fight he won on split decision but maybe had opportunities to end early having consistently caught Costa.

The 33-year-old is an awkward opponent, one Du Plessis had issues pining down in the first contest. However, there's a suspicion that while the South African has elevated his game, we may have seen the best of Tarzan.

Du Plessis submitted Adesanya in his first title defense in an impressive showing and this is a chance to claim a statement win.

Bookmakers can't see past Du Plessis winning this and as such, there isn't much value to be had backing him straight up.

However, a wager on the middleweight champion to win via decision or submission - half of his 22 wins have been by submission - juices the price slightly to -105 on Bet365.

Justin Tafa vs Tallison Teixeira Betting Preview

It wouldn't be a UFC card in Australia without one of the Tafa brothers on the bill and here Justin steps into the Octagon to face the undefeated Tallison Teixeira.

Teixeira's 7-0 MMA record is unremarkable, given the quality of fighters on it, but what does stand out is his punch power securing a first round victory in every contest so far and his massive 6ft 7in frame.

Tafa is no small man but will be giving away seven inches to his opponent. That's a big problem for a fighter that relies on his striking ability and there are big question marks over how the Aussie will get close to the giant Brazilian.

The Bad Man is 4-4-1 in UFC, losing his last bout to Karl Williams, and while he's proven durable, Teixeira looks ready to step up and make an impact in his UFC debut.

UFC 312 Parlay

We've put together a UFC 312 parlay that includes Du Plessis and Teixeira winning straight up.

Also on the parlay is Weili Zhang, who is an underdog on betting apps for her strawweight title defence against Suarez.

Chinese fighter Zhang has proven very adaptable during her impressive run in UFC with her only two losses coming against Rose Namajunas.

She's upped her game since then and looks well placed to hand Suarez the first defeat of her career.

The American's inactivity is a major concern - her last fight was in August 2023 - and while she'll want to make this a real battle, Zhang has the skill set to win any war she's involved in.

We'll throw in Rodolfo Bellato upsetting home hero Jimmy Crute to complete the parlay. Bellato has won his last four fights, while Crute is winless in four years in UFC and hasn't openly spoken about retirement.
