Hey, the Vegas Golden Knights took home the Stanley Cup on Tuesday night. So, the futures betting odds are already out for next season. The even better news is some fun wrinkles often border on the crazy.

Draft odds and prop bets will get their day in the sun soon enough, as will free agency. The offseason is active until about the middle of July.

Meanwhile, let’s head off the deep end and look at some numbers from the U.S.

Team Odds
Colorado Avalanche 9.00
Edmonton Oilers 10.50
Toronto Maple Leafs 10.50
Boston Bruins 11.00
Carolina Hurricanes 13.00
New Jersey Devils 13.00
Vegas Golden Knights 13.00
New York Rangers 17.00
Dallas Stars 17.00
Tampa Bay Lightning 17.00

Stanley Cup Odds

Yes, Colorado is still among the favourites. At DraftKings, Boston is listed as a co-favourite at 9.00. Then, Caesars Sportsbook comes in off the top rope with the defending Stanley Cup Champions. That is correct. Vegas is expected to repeat at a mere 8.00. Shopping around, even this time of year can pay off.

Edmonton and Toronto lead the way among the Canadian teams, possibly ending the country's three-decade Stanley Cup drought. Both start the offseason at 10.50 at BetMGM. Expect their numbers to shift plenty between now and even October. However, Edmonton strolls in at Caesars at 13.00, but Toronto is all the way down at 19.00.

Colorado has the easiest road out of the Western Conference at 4.25. Meanwhile, Boston still has 6.00 odds of emerging from the Eastern Conference. The Atlantic Division has been a Florida thing for the past four years, including a Stanley Cup Final loss this season to Vegas.

Here's How Other U.S. Teams Stand

There are 25 American teams in the NHL. A few of them are listed above, but taking a look deeper down in the odds chart makes sense.

For some U.S. teams, the odds are long. The Minnesota Wild and Pittsburgh Penguins stand at 31.00 and 36.00, respectively. A team like the New York Islanders, which was competitive last season, comes in at 51.00 or so.

Which Teams Have The Best Odds?

With Canada not winning the Stanley Cup since 1993, an American team is expected to bring the Cup home again in 2024.

The original Original Six present some good NHL betting options. That introduces Montreal and Toronto into the mix. Detroit and Chicago have zero chance of coming close to winning the Cup in 2024, but Boston and the New York Rangers have a good shot.

Since Vegas was a first-time winner, the odds for that happening again have slid down to 5.00 at various sportsbooks. Also in the U.S., Seattle, Florida and Nashville present intriguing options for bettors. Then, we go to the states and even provinces. BetMGM Sportsbook lists several options and offers any state or province not listed as an option at 1.61.

California and Pennsylvania are long shots at 19.00 and 29.00. Pundits question whether Pittsburgh can even make the playoffs, and then there is California with San Jose, Anaheim, and Los Angeles. The Kings are good, but can they get out of the first round?

Florida and New York come in at 9.00. That is not a surprise. The Rangers figure to contend this year, but so do the Lightning. Florida may have to come from the middle of the pack again. Conference numbers at 4.60 for Florida may be a better option.

Division numbers may be something to wait on. Colorado is almost Even to win the Central (2.10 at Caesars). Vegas is at 2.20 in the Pacific Division, but Edmonton, also in the Pacific, is at 3.60 and will be eager to seek revenge on the Golden Knights. Boston, at 4.20, has value already in the Atlantic Division.

The Eastern Conference has more value than the West (5.00 versus 3.10). That corresponds to provinces triumphing in the East or West. Again, the East is more brutal (4.50 to 3.40), as the West has a better pathway to advance.

What About An Early Pick?

Trying to pick an American team is a crapshoot, but the New Jersey Devils and New York Rangers have a shot to advance from the Eastern Conference.
