Fertitta's Caesars Buyout Enters Complex Multi-State Regulatory Review

Tilman Fertitta's $17.6billion acquisition of Caesars Entertainment has entered a complex multi-state regulatory review process expected to take the deal well into 2027.

New Jersey's Division of Gaming Enforcement has formally confirmed it will review the transaction under the state's Casino Control Act - a significant hurdle given that Fertitta's Golden Nugget already operates in Atlantic City.

If completed, Fertitta would control four of Atlantic City's nine casinos, raising concentration concerns that analysts at Jefferies say could trigger forced divestitures.

Pennsylvania's Gaming Control Board has also confirmed it must approve the deal given Caesars' ownership of Harrah's Philadelphia, multiple iGaming skins, and Caesars Sportsbook in the state.

The go-shop period - during which Caesars can solicit alternative bids - runs until July 11.

Those following the best online casinos in the Caesars Digital portfolio can expect business as usual throughout the review process.

Google Bans Prediction Market Ads In Ohio Making It The Second Banned State After Nevada

Google has banned prediction market advertising in Ohio effective June 2, making it only the second US state after Nevada where such ads are prohibited on the platform.

Google cited "the inherent complexities, speculative nature, and unique regulatory classification" of prediction market contracts - though it made the decision independently, without being asked by Ohio regulators.

The Ohio Casino Control Commission said it "applauds" the move. The ban adds a significant practical obstacle for Kalshi, Robinhood, and Crypto.com in a state where they are already fighting a cease-and-desist order.

Kalshi is currently involved in 18 federal and state lawsuits across the country.

Minnesota became the first state to legislatively ban prediction markets in May 2026, and Google's Ohio decision signals the advertising environment is tightening further.

Stanley Cup Final Tied 2-2 As Hurricanes Steal Home Ice From Golden Knights

The Vegas Golden Knights' Stanley Cup Final bid took a blow last night as the Carolina Hurricanes won Game 4 at T-Mobile Arena 5-3, levelling the best-of-seven series at 2-2.

Captain Jordan Staal was the hero for Carolina, scoring twice including the game-winner in the third period - chipping the puck over a diving Carter Hart while falling to the ice.

The Hurricanes also made a dramatic goalkeeping change, with Brandon Bussi stepping in for Frederik Andersen and becoming the first goalie since 1961 to win his playoff debut in the Stanley Cup Final.

The series now shifts to Raleigh for Game 5 on Thursday, with the Golden Knights losing home-ice advantage.

The result is a blow for Las Vegas casino operators who had been enjoying enormous economic benefits from the deep playoff run.
