England vs USA Predictions:

England will clinch a place in the knockout stage of the World Cup if they manage to beat the USA at the Al Bayt Stadium on Friday.

Betting sites have installed Gareth Southgate’s men as the odds-on favourites to prevail in this eagerly anticipated clash.

The Three Lions should be surging with confidence after they thumped Iran 6-2 in their World Cup opener.

That saw them seize control of Group B, with a two-point lead over the USA and Wales, who played out a tense 1-1 draw on Monday.

England will now carry a great deal of momentum into their second group stage match, while the Americans will need to rally after they wilted in the second half against Wales.

We have analysed the key markets on World Cup betting sites and provided tips for each of them.

Who Will Win England vs USA?

England delivered a highly impressive performance to sweep Iran aside in their opening game of the World Cup.

The Iranians are 20th in the FIFA world rankings, making them the top team in Asia right now, but they were swatted aside with almost casual disdain by a fired-up Three Lions team.

Bukayo Saka scored twice, and Jude Bellingham, Raheem Sterling, Marcus Rashford and Jack Grealish were all on target to complete the rout.

Iran were already trailing 4-1 when Southgate threw Rashford, Grealish and Phil Foden into the fray, which is a terrifying prospect for defenders with tired legs.

There were some shaky moments for the England defence, but Southgate should be delighted by their attacking performance.

He opted against his preferred 3-4-2-1 formation and went with a more ambitious 4-2-3-1, which allowed him to field an extra attacker.

Declan Rice often sat in front of the defence, allowing Bellingham, Sterling and Saka to support Kane in attack.

If Southgate sticks with the same approach on Friday, football betting sites believe England should have too much firepower for the Americans to handle.

How Can You Find More Value On A Three Lions Victory?

Iran simply could not live with England’s pace, movement and technical ability in that 6-2 mauling.

However, we should expect the USA to put in a more dogged, disciplined performance, as Gregg Berhalter’s men keep things pretty tight at the back.

They have not conceded more than two goals in a competitive match since 2017, and they generally favour a cautious approach.

Their 1-1 draw with Wales was a pretty drab affair, with just four shots on target from both teams in the entire match, as Weston McKennie, Tyler Adams and Yunus Musah worked hard to protect their back-four.

The Americans are now in a difficult position in Group B. They may end up level on points with Wales - assuming both teams lose to England and beat Iran,.

That looks reasonably likely based on current evidence, so it could come down to goal difference to determine which team advances to the Round of 16.

As such, the USA will be keen to keep things respectable on Friday, so combining England to win with under 4.5 goals in the game is an appealing option on betting apps.

Who Will Score For England Against USA?

Gareth Southgate

Saka and Sterling came right to the fore in England’s win against Iran on Monday.

Kane regularly dropped deep, held up the ball and played sumptuous through-balls to his pacier teammates – as is often the case when he plays alongside Son Heung-Min and Richarlison at Tottenham.

Sterling was a major beneficiary, as he converted a superb cross from Kane in the first half, and he had a couple of chances to add to his tally throughout the game.

He regularly comes alive when he plays for England at major tournaments, including a three-goal haul at last summer’s Euros and he may just be a sneaky World Cup Golden Boot outsider.

The Chelsea forward should enjoy plenty more chances against the USA, and odds of 9/5 on him scoring at any time in the match look appealing.

Will It Be Another Game Of Two Halves?

The USA were excellent in the first half of their clash with Wales. They bossed the midfield, kept Gareth Bale quiet and looked threatening in the final third.

That all changed after the break, when Wales manager Robert Page threw on Kieffer Moore and went for a more direct approach.

Moore is an underrated striker, but facing Kane is still a far more daunting prospect for the Americans, particularly as their legs grow weary after the break.

The attacking quality on England’s bench is frightening, and is one of the reasons why they are among the favourites to win the World Cup

That means Walker Zimmerman and Tim Ream may struggle against the fresh legs of Callum Wilson, Rashford, Foden and Grealish as the game wears on.

That means backing the second half to be the highest scoring period is certainly tempting.
