BBL And Betclic Qualify For PGL Bucharest 2027

BBL and Betclic have won the European closed qualifier for PGL Bucharest 2027, taking the final two places at the Counter-Strike 2 event, which PGL has scheduled for Bucharest, Romania, in January 2027.

The eight-team qualifier ran from October 16 to October 20, 2026. BBL won the upper bracket and Betclic came through the lower bracket to claim the second place, based on results published by Offstage and HLTV.

BBL beat EYEBALLERS 2-0 on October 16 and ex-RUSTEC 2-1 on October 17. In the upper bracket final on October 19 BBL beat Betclic 2-1, winning 13-9 on Cache and 13-5 on Mirage after dropping Nuke 13-11.

Betclic opened with a 2-1 win over Eternal Fire on October 16 and beat Nemesis 2-0 on October 17. After the loss to BBL, Betclic dropped into the lower bracket and beat Nemesis 2-0 again on October 20, winning 13-10 on Mirage and 13-9 on Dust2.

What The Result Means

For BBL it is the first notable event appearance since the Danish squad signed with the organisation at the end of August, following the collapse of Tricked. Betclic have not played a notable event since qualifying for PGL Bucharest 2025, when the roster looked very different.

They join the 14 teams that accepted direct invitations. HLTV reported on October 8, 2026, that all of the 14 highest-ranked teams in the October invitational ranking had accepted, so the finished 16-team field is led by the current top 10.

Offstage listed Betclic Apogee Esports as the full name of the second qualifier, with Wojciech "Prism" Zieba, Patrick "Demho" Tomaszewski, Konrad "Qlocuu" Kloczek, Mateusz "Ex1st" Witman and Roland "ultimate" Tomkovyak in the lineup and Grzegorz "SZPERO" Jamalek as coach. HLTV noted that BBL had added Mikkel "MistR" Thomsen only days before the qualifier began.

In the upper bracket final, the match breakdown on Dust2.com.br shows Betclic's Ex1st finishing with a 48-49 kill-death line and a 1.20 rating in the 2-1 defeat. BBL finished the qualifier unbeaten, while Betclic's only defeat came against them.

About The Event

PGL Bucharest 2027 takes place from January 17 to 24, 2027, at the PGL Studio, with a $1,000,000 prize pool. HLTV also reported an additional $400,000 in VRS bonuses attached to the event, which is the opening tournament of the 2027 season.

The Betclic name on the second qualifier is a reminder of how closely betting brands sit alongside the Counter-Strike scene. Readers can follow wider esports and industry stories in the gambling.com news hub or compare operators on our betting sites page.

PGL's own event listing shows January 15 to 24, 2027, while HLTV and Offstage give January 17 to 24 for the tournament itself. Check the PGL site for the final schedule.

With both teams entering a field that includes the current top 10, the open question for the scene is how they fare against established sides once the event begins in January.
