Florida Commercial Casinos Reach $63.2m In January Growth

Florida’s commercial casino market opened the year with momentum, as January revenue rose 5.7% year over year to $63.2m, according to the Florida Gaming Control Commission.

The increase reflects steady demand at racino-style venues, where slot machines and electronic table games drive the majority of revenue.

While overall results were positive, performance varied across operators.

At the same time, the broader gaming landscape continues to evolve, with some players nationwide also exploring the best online casinos as digital options expand in other states.

Magic City Leads Strong January Performance

Magic City Casino emerged as Florida’s top performer in January, generating $14.3m in revenue - up 19.3% from the same month last year.

The property not only led the state in total revenue but also posted the strongest year-over-year growth.

Its performance underscores continued investment in its gaming floor and entertainment offerings.

Gulfstream Park Racing & Casino reported revenue of just under $6m, an 11.7% increase year over year.

“Florida’s January results show steady momentum in the commercial casino sector, with slot-driven growth and standout performances highlighting resilience amid competition and shifting player preferences across the broader gaming landscape.”

The Hallandale Beach property continues to benefit from its combined racetrack and casino appeal, with slot play remaining a key driver of growth.

Harrah’s Pompano Beach Casino generated $12.5m in January, up 8.8% year over year, reinforcing its reputation as one of the state’s most consistent performers.

The Big Easy Casino also posted gains, with revenue rising 4.3% to $3.5m.

Mixed Results Across the Market

Not all operators shared in the growth.

Calder Casino recorded the steepest decline, with revenue falling 5.9% to $7.4m. Hialeah Park Casino reported a 2.9% drop, totaling $7.7m.

Analysts attribute softer results in some South Florida markets to shifting local competition and broader entertainment trends.

Casino Miami saw a modest 0.1% increase, bringing in more than $7m.

The Casino at Dania Beach remained flat year over year, reporting $4.9m in January revenue.

Florida’s eight commercial casinos operate alongside the state’s substantial Native American gaming sector, creating a competitive environment.

Even so, January’s 5.7% growth suggests the commercial segment remains resilient.

As operators enhance loyalty programs and expand slot offerings - competing for attention in a market where players elsewhere are increasingly drawn to the best online slots - the sector appears positioned for continued steady gains in the months ahead.
