Light & Wonder Begins Search For New SciPlay CEO As Josh Wilson Departs

Light & Wonder has confirmed that SciPlay chief executive Josh Wilson is leaving the company's social casino business, with chief financial officer Oliver Chow taking over the role on an interim basis from November 1.
Wilson will step down on October 30 at the end of his current contract, closing out more than 22 years in the social casino sector, the last seven as SciPlay's chief executive.
A Two-Decade Tenure Comes To A Close
Wilson joined SciPlay as chief executive in May 2019 after spending almost 13 years at Scientific Games, which rebranded as Light & Wonder in 2022 as it refocused on cross-platform gaming content.
During his time in charge, Wilson led SciPlay through its initial public offering and helped build out a portfolio of social casino titles before Light & Wonder completed its buyout of the remaining public shares in 2023, folding SciPlay fully into the wider group.
Matt Wilson, president and chief executive of Light & Wonder, thanked his outgoing counterpart for the contribution, saying the board and leadership team wished him well as the company took time "to appoint the right leader for SciPlay's next phase."
Chow Steps In As Interim Chief
Oliver Chow, Light & Wonder's chief financial officer, will take the reins of SciPlay on an interim basis while the parent company runs a search for a permanent successor.
Light & Wonder said Chow will work closely with SciPlay's existing leadership team through the transition, and that there will be no change to the unit's strategy as a result of the leadership switch.

What It Means For SciPlay
SciPlay remains one of the larger standalone social casino operators, publishing free-to-play slots and online casinos across mobile and web.
A leadership change at the top rarely alters day-to-day product roadmaps in the short term, and Light & Wonder's public comments suggest continuity is the priority while a permanent successor is found.
The company has not set a timeline for naming Wilson's replacement.
