Lithuania's Remote Gambling Hits 78% Of Market As H1 Revenue Rises 16.8%
Remote gambling accounted for approximately 78% of Lithuania's total gambling revenue in the first half of 2026, according to data published on August 14, 2026, by the Losimų prieziuros tarnyba (LPT), Lithuania's Gambling Supervision Authority.
The LPT said gambling operators' combined gross gaming revenue, stakes placed minus winnings paid out, reached €153.6million in the six months to June 30, 2026, up 16.8% on the same period in 2025.
Remote operators generated €119.9m of that total, a 25% year-on-year increase, while land-based venues brought in €33.7m, down 5%.
Remote gambling first overtook land-based revenue in Lithuania in 2020, according to the regulator's historical data, and has widened the gap in every reporting period since.
Slot Machines Lead The Shift Online
Remote A-category slot machines were the single largest contributor to Lithuania's gambling revenue, generating €85.7m in H1 2026, up around a third on the prior year, the LPT said.
Remote table games grew 34% to €12.3m over the same period, a pace of growth live and online table game operators elsewhere in Europe will be watching.
Not every online segment has expanded. Revenue from remote B-category slot machines fell 63% to €424,800, a decline the regulator's figures show alongside otherwise broad-based online growth.
Land-based table games held steady at €7.7m, roughly matching the same period in 2025.
Lottery Sales And Tax Revenue Also Rise
Lottery ticket sales reached €87.7m in H1 2026, up 8.6% year-on-year, with €49.3m paid out in winnings, a 10.5% rise, according to the LPT.
Combined lottery and gambling taxes paid into the Lithuanian state budget totalled €46.43m in the first half of the year, up 11.4% on H1 2025.
Gambling operators contributed €30.67m of that figure, and lottery organisers paid the remaining €15.76m, according to the regulator's release.
A Market Moving Steadily Online
The trend is consistent with the LPT's own quarterly reporting through 2025 and into 2026: remote gambling has expanded every period while physical venues have either stagnated or contracted.
The regulator's full-year 2025 figures put total gross gaming revenue at €274.1m, up 13% on 2024, with remote gambling revenue rising 19% to €202.4m and land-based revenue almost flat at €71.7m.
Full figures for the current reporting period are set out in the LPT's own H1 2026 release, which also breaks down revenue by individual game type.
What It Means For The Wider Market
The LPT's enforcement activity has grown alongside the online segment. In 2025, the regulator issued 47 warnings to foreign entities for illegal remote gambling activity in Lithuania and opened 37 investigations into unlicensed operators, according to its full-year report.
The register of people who have voluntarily excluded themselves from gambling logged 18,710 new applications in 2025, up around 14% on 2024, figures the LPT points to as evidence that problem gambling remains a live concern even as the licensed market expands.
For online casino operators tracking European licensing markets, Lithuania's continued double-digit growth and rising tax take offer a case study in how quickly a regulated market can consolidate around remote play once land-based footfall levels off.
The LPT is due to publish its next quarterly update, covering the third quarter of 2026, later this year.
