Macau Expects Up To 120,000 Daily Visitors Over Mid-Autumn And Golden Week
Macau could welcome up to 120,000 visitors a day during the three-day Mid-Autumn Festival break from September 25-27 and the National Day Golden Week that follows from October 1-7, according to Andy Wu, president of the Macau Travel Industry Council.
Wu said the outlook for both holiday periods was positive, citing government-organised festivities and mainland travel policies that continue to support visitor numbers, as Macau Daily Times reported.
Arrivals are expected to build gradually through the Mid-Autumn break, since many mainland residents spend the festival day itself with family before travelling.
Even a 120,000-a-day peak would sit close to the 119,000 daily average Macau recorded across the first eight months of 2026, a year Wu forecasts will bring 43 million total visitors to the city.
How This Compares To Recent Months
The back-to-back holidays are traditionally among the busiest windows for Macau's casino and integrated resort operators, who rely on Golden Week footfall to offset softer periods elsewhere in the calendar.
Macau recorded a monthly visitor high in August 2026, and Wu's council put the daily average for the first eight months of the year at 119,000, meaning even a 120,000-a-day Golden Week peak would only modestly exceed the year-to-date run rate.
Some estimates from the council have put the more conservative floor for the holiday period at 110,000 visitors a day.
The Mid-Autumn break precedes the National Day Golden Week, which is historically one of the busiest stretches on Macau's tourism and gaming calendar, alongside the Chinese New Year.
