Massachusetts Casinos Post $95.78m Gross Gaming Revenue In July

Massachusetts' three licensed casinos generated approximately $95.78 million in gross gaming revenue in July 2026, while licensed mobile and retail betting sites added a further $65.56 million in taxable sports wagering revenue over the same month.
The figures come from the July revenue report published by the Massachusetts Gaming Commission (MGC).
How The Three Casinos Split The Total
Plainridge Park Casino, a slots-only Category 2 facility in Plainville, is taxed on 49% of its gross gaming revenue, with 82% of that money going to Local Aid and 18% to the Race Horse Development Fund.
MGM Springfield and Encore Boston Harbor, both classified as Category 1 resort casinos, are taxed on 25% of gross gaming revenue, which is allocated across several state funds under the state's gaming statute.
The MGC's July report breaks out taxable gaming revenue by property, with Encore Boston Harbor and MGM Springfield accounting for the bulk of the state's table game and slot handle.
Since the three casinos opened, Massachusetts has collected approximately $2.5 billion in total taxes and assessments from casino operations, according to the MGC's data.
Sports betting, which launched in retail in January 2023 and expanded online in March 2023, has generated an additional $490.96 million in tax collections since launch.
Combined, the state's casino and sports betting sectors have produced more than $2.99 billion in tax revenue since wagering began.
Context For The Month
July's combined casino win of $95.78 million continues a run of monthly gross gaming revenue in the $90 million to $100 million range for the three-casino market, which has now been fully operational since Encore Boston Harbor opened in 2019.
The MGC publishes a full monthly breakdown, including per-property slot and table win, taxable sports wagering handle, and month-over-month tax remittances, on its own site.
Retail Betting Still A Fraction Of The Market
The MGC's report shows how lopsided Massachusetts sports wagering remains between channels.
Retail sportsbooks, taxed at 15%, produced just $461,826.56 in taxable gaming revenue on $5.52 million in wagers settled during July, a hold of 8.59%.
Online and mobile sportsbooks, taxed at 20%, settled $587.10 million in wagers and produced $65.10 million in taxable gaming revenue at an 11.33% hold, meaning well over 99% of the money wagered in the state now flows through mobile betting apps rather than in-person retail windows.
