Mississippi Casino Revenue Reaches $185.4m In January Uptick
Mississippi’s casino industry reported a 1.9% increase in gaming revenue to $185.4million in January, according to data released by the Mississippi Gaming Commission.
While the year began on a positive note overall, performance varied by region and gaming segment.
Much of the industry’s steady foundation continues to come from slot machines.
Slot revenue totaled $154.5m in January, up slightly from $153.5m in the same month last year.
Slots Anchor Growth As Table Games Surge
Table games posted the strongest percentage growth statewide, rising 13.5% year over year to $27.3m.
The increase suggests renewed interest in traditional live gaming experiences, even as some players nationwide explore the best online casinos for added flexibility.
Sports betting revenue, however, declined 20% compared to last year, totaling $4.1m.
The dip indicates softer retail wagering demand, as broader industry trends show bettors increasingly gravitating toward digital platforms.

Regionally, the coastal market led the state in January performance.
Coastal casinos generated $131.2m in revenue, up 5% year over year.
Slot revenue in the region reached $107.4m, an increase of more than 7%, while table games climbed nearly 20% to $20.6m.
In contrast, the northern region experienced the steepest decline, with total revenue falling 14% to $33.5m.
Table game revenue dropped to $4.7m, and slot revenue declined to $26.2m.
Analysts attribute the softness in northern Mississippi to rising regional competition and fluctuating visitation patterns.

Regional Gaps Highlight Ongoing Challenges
Casinos in the Central region also posted weaker results, with revenue slipping 3% to $24.3m.
Slot revenue edged down to $20.9m, while table games provided a bright spot, rising more than 26% year over year to nearly $2m.
Overall, January’s numbers reflect stability rather than rapid growth.
Slot machines remain the backbone of Mississippi’s casino market, while table games are gaining momentum in select areas. At the same time, competition from digital alternatives - including interest in the best online slots - continues to reshape broader gaming habits.
Looking ahead, regulators and operators will closely monitor whether strength in the coastal region can offset softness in other parts of the state and whether retail sports betting rebounds in the coming months.
