PartyPoker Review

PartyPoker provides users with a large welcome bonus, lots of ongoing promotions, a wide variety of cash games and tournaments, and a strong user experience. It launched in 2001 and quickly became the world’s most popular online poker sites. PartyPoker lost that crown after the United States passed the Unlawful Internet Gambling Enforcement Act in 2006 and it had to leave the country, but it remains among the best online poker sites in the UK.

PartyPoker is now part of the Entain empire, along with brands such as Ladbrokes, Coral, Bwin, and BetMGM. It was the world’s seventh-largest poker site by traffic at the time of this review. Read on to learn more about the site’s strengths and weaknesses, the bonuses available, the tournaments it hosts, and the banking process.

PartyPoker Welcome Bonus

PartyPoker offers a match deposit welcome bonus worth up to £400 and an additional £40 worth of tickets as its sign-up bundle. After making a deposit of at least £10, you will be given an equivalent amount as a “pending deposit bonus”, up to a maximum of £400.

To release the full amount, you need to accumulate 4x the deposit amount in loyalty points by entering tournaments. If you want to claim the full £400 in bonus funds, you need to spend £1,600. You will also be given £40 worth of SPINS tickets and MTT tickets spread across your first six days as a PartyPoker customer.

Promotions Offered by PartyPoker

Visit the “Promotions” section of the website to see a long list of offers that you can claim. The most important promo is PartyPoker Cashback, whereby you can claim up to 40% back, paid directly into your account each week.  You will receive one point for every £1 of rake you generate on the tables.

The more points you collect, the higher the rakeback percentage you will receive. By the way, if you’re not familiar with rakeback, read our poker rake guide here.

One great promotion is Boosted Hours, whereby you can grab extra cashback with a 3x points boost at certain times. There are various leaderboards too, where you can hold tight and scale the ladder to win large cash prizes each day.

Registration at PartyPoker

Registration at PartyPoker is quick and simple. Just click on the orange “Sign Up” button at the top right of the homepage to fire up the registration form. The country and currency will automatically be set to the United Kingdom and GBP. You can enter your email address, and choose a user ID and password.

You then need to provide your name and date of birth, and the final step requires you to enter your address and phone number. Choose your marketing preferences and click “Create My Account.” Finally, you will need to upload scans of documents that prove your identity and address. This is a legal requirement of all licensed operators.

Game Variety at PartyPoker

The game variety is reasonably strong. It naturally cannot match PokerStars in terms of overall variety, traffic and liquidity, but you can still play a relatively broad selection of cash games and tournaments each day. We found between 60 and 70 tournaments starting each hour when conducting this review.

Poker Tournaments

Tournaments are broken down into Daily Legends, Omaha Daily Legends, Annual Series, Scheduled Tournaments, and Tournament Dollars Satellites at PartyPoker. You can play for a share of a £50,000 guaranteed prize in the Super Daily Legends tournament each Monday. It goes up to £75,000 on Tuesday, £100,000 on Wednesday and Thursday, and all the way up to £250,000 at weekends. The selection on offer here makes PartyPoker one of the top sites around for  UK poker tournaments.

Cash Games

You can play No Limit Hold’em, Fixed Limit Hold’em, Pot Limit Hold’em, Pot Limit Omaha, Short Deck and Fixed Limit 7 Card Stud on a variety of heads-up, six-handed and eight-handed tables at PartyPoker. Stakes begin at £0.01/$0.02 and go all the way up to £200/£400, thus catering to a broad array of budgets.

Sit & Go Games

You will find lots of SNG tournaments at PartyPoker. Buy-ins start at just £1.10, and some games reach £1,000, with heads-up, six-handed, nine-handed and 10-handed tables available, spanning deepstacks, turbo and hyper-turbo structures. Alternative variations include double or nothing, where half the field double their buy-in and the other half leave empty handed, and SPINS, whereby multipliers can boost the prize pool by up to 240,000x.

Live Poker

PartyPoker sponsors high-profile live events across the globe. Events include MILLIONS, with event prize pools between £5 million and £10 million, alongside high roller and super high roller events. It also partners with WPT for major live events.

PartyPoker Poker Network Partners

PartyPoker runs on its own proprietary PartyGaming network, which has been running for more than two decades. It is secure, reliable and suitably busy. It does not receive as much traffic as PokerStars and GGPoker, but it regularly has more than 3,000 players at peak times, and its seven-day average is more than 1,000.

Depositing and Withdrawing at PartyPoker

PartyPoker offers a huge range of deposit methods for you to choose from. In the UK, you can use Visa, MasterCard or Maestro debit cards, PayPal, Neteller or MuchBetter e-wallets, a paysafecard prepaid voucher, or LuxonPay. ApplePay and Google Pay are also available for mobile players. In other countries, there are lots of different e-wallets and online bank transfer options.

All deposits and withdrawals are free, and they start at £10. It takes PartyPoker up to two days to process withdrawal requests. You will then receive your funds in up to 24 hours if you go for an e-wallet like PayPal or Neteller. It can take three to five business days to withdraw to your bank account via your saved card details, but some Visa debit cards facilitate instant withdrawals. Online bank transfers can take up to four business days.

PartyPoker Desktop/Mobile Experience

The PartyPoker lobby is neatly laid out and easy to navigate. The dropdown menus are clear and helpful, you will find lots of shortcuts, and there are plenty of filters to help you find suitable games quickly and easily. The software is fast and reliable.

If you’re a mobile poker fan, the mobile app is available to download via the App Store and Google Play. It has an average rating of 4.3 out of 5 on the App Store after receiving thousands of user reviews. You can access the full range of tournaments and cash games via the app, which has a polished and user-friendly interface.

PartyPoker Competition Level

There is a fairly broad level of competition at PartyPoker. In the early days, it was full of fish, but grinders then came in and cleaned up. PartyPoker made cash games anonymous until you are seated at tables. This measure was designed to prevent experienced players from targeting fish. Eventually the strong players began to leave, and weak players returned, and the mix is now reasonably diverse, so it should be appealing to the average recreational player.

PartyPoker VIP Program

The Diamond Club at PartyPoker gives VIP players a fixed 40% weekly cashback rate, which is topped up to 50% if you meet the rake target of 100,000. You also receive access to a dedicated 24/7 support line. You must commit to raking at least $100,000 per year to be eligible. If you want to go even higher, you can join Diamond Club Elite, whereby you earn up to 60% cashback and enjoy a package to the Caribbean Poker Party in the Bahamas and a ticket to the MILLIONS online tournament.

PartyPoker Customer Support

You can contact the PartyPoker customer support team at any time via live chat. There is also a phone line, but it is only operated for a few hours each day. Non-urgent requests can be made via email. There is a large FAQ section at PartyPoker too.

PartyPoker Responsible Gambling Features

There is an excellent responsible gambling section at the PartyPoker site. You can access it by clicking on the “Safer Gambling” tab at the top of the homepage. It has an informational video, a guide to common signs of a gambling problem, and safer gambling FAQs. You can also impose deposit limits, maximum stake limits, curfews and reality checks upon your account. It allows you to take a time out or self-exclude too.

Our Verdict

PartyPoker is one of the world’s best online poker sites. The cashback scheme is appealing, the promotions are great, and it offers a polished user experience on strong proprietary software. It lacks the traffic and liquidity of PokerStars and GGPoker, but it remains a popular site with an excellent tournament schedule and lots of cash games. There are lots of convenient deposit and withdrawal options too. Overall, it is a very impressive site for anyone interested in playing online poker.
